There are only two more rounds left in the Second Stage in Diekirch League. Coincidentally all hosts won their games.

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Diekirch League took place in Steinsel. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Etzella (14-12) to third ranked Amicale (16-10) 81-80 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-80. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Eric Jeitz (191-86) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and international Samy Picard (196-88) who added 20 points and 4 assists during the contest. American power forward Anthony Simpson (203-87, college: Kent St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists. Etzella's coach Gilles Becker tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Amicale moved-up to second place in League. Etzella at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. Amicale are looking forward to face Musel Pikes (#6) in Stadrbredimus in the next round. Etzella will play at home against the league's leader Sparta in Bertrange and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Bertrange. First ranked host Sparta (20-6) defeated 3rd ranked T71 (15-11) 94-87. Defending champion maintains first position in League with 20-6 record. T71 at the other side keeps the third place with 11 games lost. Sparta will play against Etzella (#5) in Ettelbruck in the next round. T71 will play at home against Residence in Bereldange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Belvaux. Second ranked host Soleuvre (10-13) defeated one of their biggest challengers Basket Esch (8-15) 98-86. The best player for the winners was Mychal Green who had a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Christophe Donnersbach produced 25 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Soleuvre maintains second position in League with 10-13 record having thirteen points less than leader Sparta. Loser Basket Esch keeps the third place with 15 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Luxembourg. First ranked host Contern (11-12) defeated 4th ranked Black Star (2-21) 92-80. Elton Frazier orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. Contern's coach Brian Carroll used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Contern maintains first position in League with 11-12 record. Black Star at the other side keeps the fourth place with 21 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

In League Musel Pikes lost to Residence on the opponent's court 69-75.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 27 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals by Larrie Smith of Sparta.

Places 1-6
Residence - Musel Pikes 75-69

Rather expected game in Bereldange where 6th ranked Musel Pikes (13-13) was defeated by fourth ranked Residence (15-11) 75-69. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-7. But Musel Pikes won second period 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Residence dominated on the defensive end, holding Musel Pikes to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Musel Pikes 38-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Dustin Scott (203-85, college: Charleston) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) replied with 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward Trenton Wurtz (203-83, college: Indiana St.) added 18 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Musel Pikes. Five Musel Pikes players scored in double figures. Residence maintains fourth position in League with 15-11 record. Musel Pikes at the other side keeps the sixth place with 13 games lost. Residence's next round opponent will be higher ranked T71 (#3) in Dudelange and it may be the game of the week. Musel Pikes will play at home against the league's second-placed Amicale in Steinsel.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Belvaux. Second ranked host Soleuvre (10-13) defeated one of their biggest challengers Basket Esch (8-15) 98-86. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 55-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Soleuvre made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game, while Basket Esch only scored ten points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was American guard Mychal Green (193-83, college: Ohio) who had a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. The other American import forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. The other American import forward Jeron Belin (198-88, college: St.Peter's, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games.
