The Second Stage in Diekirch League just ended. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games.

Round 10 in Diekirch League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Luxembourg where host Contern (11-12) crushed league's leader Soleuvre (10-13) 104-85 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in League. Contern keeps a position of League leader. Soleuvre at the other side dropped to the second place with 13 games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Sparta.
Top ranked Sparta (21-7) recorded its seventh loss in Bertrange. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Residence (17-11) 83-78. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in League. Residence moved-up to second place in League. Defending champion Sparta still keeps top position with seven games lost.
A very close game took place in Stadrbredimus between Musel Pikes and Etzella. Sixth ranked Musel Pikes (14-14) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Etzella (14-14). Musel Pikes managed to escape with a 2-point win 87-85 in the game for the fifth place. Laurent Majerus had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Chad Tomko responded with 32 points and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Musel Pikes moved-up to fifth place in League.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Amicale (17-11) against fourth ranked T71 (16-12) on Sunday night. Host Amicale was defeated by T71 in a tough game in Steinsel 90-95. Ryan Sharry notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds to lead the effort. T71's coach Jan Enjebo allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. T71 maintains fourth position in League with 16-12 record. Amicale at the other side dropped to the third place with 11 games lost.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Esch. Third ranked Basket Esch faced one of their biggest challengers Black Star. Host Basket Esch (9-14) defeated guests from Mersch (1-22) 80-73. Jibril Hodges fired 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Basket Esch maintains third position in League with 9-14 record having seventeen points less than leader Sparta. Loser Black Star keeps the fourth place with 22 games lost.

The best stats of 10th round was 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Elton Frazier of Contern.

Amicale - T71 90-95

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Amicale (17-11) against fourth ranked T71 (16-12) on Sunday night. Host Amicale was defeated by T71 in a tough game in Steinsel 90-95. The guests were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 26-18 Amicale's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 95-90 at the end of the game. American forward Ryan Sharry (203-89, college: Middlebury, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds to lead the effort and international point guard Tom Schumacher (190-87, college: Cal.Baptist) supported him with 20 points and 9 assists. T71's coach Jan Enjebo allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by Alex Laurent (196-93) did not help to save the game for Amicale. American forward Reggie Golson (201-81, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Court Side) added 12 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. T71 maintains fourth position in League with 16-12 record. Amicale at the other side dropped to the third place with 11 games lost.

A very close game took place in Stadrbredimus between Musel Pikes and Etzella. Sixth ranked Musel Pikes (14-14) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Etzella (14-14). The former international center Laurent Majerus (202-90) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Chad Tomko (180-89, college: NC-Wilmington) responded with 32 points and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and his fellow American import forward William Arre (199-86, college: Lock Haven) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. There will be only one (last) round of the Second Stage in N2. Bottom-ranked T.Hesperange managed to get a fifteenth victory on Saturday night. This time they outleveled ninth-ranked BBC Nitia 95-75. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference proves that T.Hesperange was well-prepared to that game. T.Hesperange maintains sixth place with 15-12 record.
