Rasid Mahalbasic gets MVP of the Week award for Polish TBL (Second Stage) - Apr 23, 2013

Rasid
Mahalbasic
Austrian-Slovenian Rasid Mahalbasic (211-C-90) had a very impressive game in the last round for Asseco Prok. and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 10 (Second Stage).
The 22-year old center had a double-double of 22 points and ten rebounds, while his team beat Anwil (18-14) 90-85. Asseco Prok. is placed at 4th position in Polish TBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Asseco Prok. will need more victories to improve their 18-14 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Mahalbasic as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Rasid Mahalbasic averages this season 10.6ppg and 6.3rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 32-year old Serbian swingman Slavisa Bogavac (200-G/F-80, agency: BeoExcell) of Rosa Radom. Bogavac impressed basketball fans with 25 points and 5 rebounds. Bad luck as Rosa Radom lost that game 63-74 to the higher-ranked AZS Koszalin (#-5, 18-14). Despite lost game Rosa Radom moved up to -2th position in Places 7-12. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 10-22 record. Bogavac is a newcomer at Rosa Radom and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was former international forward Filip Dylewicz (202-F-80) of second-ranked Trefl Sopot. Dylewicz scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was a key player of Trefl Sopot, leading his team to a 79-69 win against #4 ranked Asseco Prok. in a game of the week. Trefl Sopot needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in Round 7. Their record at this point is 21 victories and 11 lost games. Dylewicz has a great season in Poland. After 32 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.4ppg (8th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Nicchaeus Doaks (202-F-87) of Siarka Jezioro - 28 points and 8 rebounds
5. Sek Henry (193-G-87) of AZS Koszalin - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Walter Hodge (183-PG-86) of Stelmet ZG - 18 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Jakub Dloniak (192-F-83) of Siarka Jezioro - 20 points and 5 rebounds
8. Slavisa Bogavac (200-G/F-80) of Rosa Radom - 21 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Demetrius Brown (201-F-83) of Kotwica - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Uros Mirkovic (205-F/C-82) of Polpharma - 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Legia Warszawa capture 1Liga title - 1 day ago
FINAL GTK Gliwice - Legia W-wa 65-74 Legia Warsaw rallied past GTK Gliwice to sweep the championship series. 25 personal fouls committed by GTK Gliwice helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for point guard Lukasz Wilczek (190-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points. Piotr Robak (194-91) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Legia W-wa players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Kacper Radwanski...   [read more]
