Energa Czarni (#6) forced the game against Anwil (#5) into an overtime, but lost by nine points 69-78 on Friday night. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime then Energa Czarni managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Anwil who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 18-9. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Energa Czarni to just 5 points in second quarter. Anwil shot 24 for 36 from the free-throw line, while Energa Czarni only scored eight points from the stripe. Energa Czarni was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was naturalized Bosnian forward Seid Hajric (203-83) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. American swingman Marcus Ginyard (196-87, college: N.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Anwil's coach Milija Bogicevic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Bertengeh Gadri-Nicholson (208-83, college: Denver) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks and the other American import forward Roderick Trice (191-84, college: S.Carolina) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Everything could happen in Gdynia at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked PGE Turow and 3rd placed Asseco Prok. had identical 16-8 record. But Asseco Prok. was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Zgorzelec 82-68 on Thursday night. It was a key game for the top position in Places 1-6. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-87. Rosa Radom dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Siarka Jezioro's 24 and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Start Gdynia - AZS Koszalin 81-54

There was an upset when second-best AZS Koszalin (11-14) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Start Gdynia (7-19) 81-54 on Thursday. The game without a history. Start Gdynia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding AZS Koszalin to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded AZS Koszalin 37-21 including a 28-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. Start Gdynia shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. The best player for the winners was guard Grzegorz Mordzak (183-77, agency: Promotex) who scored 19 points. Bosnian-Israeli center Robert Rothbart (217-86, agency: INVICTUS Sports Group) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Start Gdynia players scored in double figures. Start Gdynia's coach David Dedek felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Pawel Leonczyk (202-86, agency: Promotex) who recorded 14 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Darrell Harris (208-84, college: Rhode Island) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Start Gdynia moved-up to fifth place in Places 7-12. AZS Koszalin at the other side keeps the second position with 14 games lost. Start Gdynia will face league's leader Polpharma in Starogard in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS Koszalin will play at home against Rosa Radom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
