   #1. This week's number one is an international swingman Thomas Kelati (195-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Washington St., currently plays in Spain). He was the major contributor in a Valencia Basket's victory against the ninth-ranked Asefa Estudiantes (12-12) 81-71 in the Spanish ACB in Saturday night's game. Kelati scored 16 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 28 minutes on the court. Valencia Basket (14-10) is placed fifth in the ACB. It's Kelati's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 11.6ppg, 2.8rpg, 1.6apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 57.8%(26-45), 3FGP: 44.0% and FT: 88.5% in the 16 games he played so far. Kelati has a dual citizenship: Eritrean and Polish. Ex-BOT Turow Zgorzelec player is currently a member of the Polish senior national team.

He led his Spanish team Caja Laboral to a victory against the eighth-ranked Besiktas (0-11) 83-73 in the Euroleague last Friday. Lampe recorded 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Caja Laboral Vitoria (6-5) is placed fifth in group F. There are only three games left until the end of the Euroleague Top 16. So now every game will be critical. Lampe is ranked fifth on the list of the best rebounders in the league. He has very reliable stats this season: 13.1ppg, 6.0rpg, 2FGP: 47.4%, 3FGP: 31.6% and FT: 78.4%. Lampe is another player who holds two passports: Polish and Swedish. He is in the roster of the Polish senior national team.

   #3. The Polish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Szymon Szewczyk (209-82, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA. Szewczyk could not help Umana Venezia (11-11) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Umana Venezia lost in an overtime 88-97 on the road to the higher-ranked (#5) Armani Milano. Szewczyk was the top scorer with 23 points. He also added 4 rebounds in 40 minutes. This year Szewczyk has relatively solid stats: 11.8ppg, 5.5rpg, 2FGP: 62.9%(56-89), 3FGP: 38.0% and FT: 84.6% in the 20 games. He is also a member of the Polish senior national team.

An experienced forward Michal Ignerski (207-80, agency: Stanley International, college: Mississippi St., currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA was not able to help Banco di Sardegna Sassari (17-5) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Ignerski's good performance Banco di Sardegna Sassari was defeated 86-78 in Avellino by the much lower-ranked Air Avellino (#12). He recorded 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Ignerski has reliable stats this season: 13.0ppg and 5.3rpg. He is also Polish national team player.

Former international guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis, currently plays in Israel) was not able to secure a victory for Maccabi T-A (17-3) in their game against GreenTops Netanya (10-10) in the Israeli Winner League. Logan scored 7 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 31 minutes. The league leader Maccabi T-A lost 70-76 at home to the lower-ranked (#6) GreenTops Netanya. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Logan's overall stats are: 9.9ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.9apg in the 20 games. He is a naturalized American. Logan used to play for the Polish national team four years ago. He played also for WTK Anwil Wloclawek in Polish league.

Forward Olek Czyz (200-90, agency: Priority Sports, college: Nevada, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Montepaschi Siena (14-8) crushing them 94-70 in the Italian SerieA in Monday night's game. He recorded 10 points in only 12 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Acea Virtus Roma (15-7) is placed third in the SerieA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Czyz's total stats are: 6.7ppg and 4.5rpg in the 22 games. He is a former U20 international player as he played for the Polish team three years ago.

Former U20 international forward Karol Gruszecki (196-89, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the The Univ.of Texas - San Antonio (5-15) 69-53 in the NCAA last Friday. Gruszecki scored 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The University of Texas at Arlington has a solid 13-7 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Gruszecki has averaged so far 6.7ppg and 4.5rpg. He used to play for the Polish U20 national team five years ago.

Power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90, currently plays in Italy) contributed to Torino's victory against the sixth-ranked Treviglio (14-12) 88-78 in the Italian Nazionale A (third division) on Sunday night. Wojciechowski had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 13 rebounds in 37 minutes. PMS Torino (23-4) is placed first in the Nazionale A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Wojciechowski has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.7ppg, 9.2rpg and 1.1spg in the 27 games. Wojciechowski plays currently for the Polish national team.

Former international center Michal Hlebowicki (204-76, currently plays in Latvia), who plays in the Latvian LBL couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Jekabpils (17-10) in their last game. Despite Hlebowicki's good performance Jekabpils lost 74-82 in Riga to the leading Barons kvartals. He scored 11 points and added 3 passes in 22 minutes. They ended the series of four consecutive victories. Hlebowicki has averaged so far 9.5ppg and 6.7rpg in the 26 games. He used to play for the Polish national team eleven years ago.

Center Szymon Lukasiak (208-87, college: Jacksonville, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketligan couldn't help one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams Nassjo (7-26) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Nassjo was crushed 90-69 in Stockholm by the higher-ranked (#10) White Eagles. Lukasiak was the second best scorer with 21 points. He also added 4 rebounds in 27 minutes; not bad, considering it's only Lukasiak's third season in pro basketball. It was Nassjo's third consecutive loss in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Lukasiak's stats this year are: 10.1ppg and 5.1rpg in the 32 games. He is a former U18 international player as eight years ago he still played for the Polish national team.

   #11. Former U18 international center Pawel Mroz (215-84, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL couldn't help Basketbal Svitavy (10-21) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Mroz's good performance the fifth-placed Basketbal Svitavy was defeated 92-78 in Usti nad Labem by the lower-ranked BK Usti nad Labem (#7) in the Group A2. He recorded 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Mroz's stats this season are: 14.8ppg and 6.5rpg. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team eleven years ago.

   #12. U20 international forward Tomasz Gielo (206-93, currently studies in the States) contributed to a 3-point Liberty's victory against the Gardner-Webb University 65-62 in the NCAA last Saturday. Gielo scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. Gielo averaged so far 14.8ppg and 6.5rpg in the 29 games. He is also in the roster of the Polish U20 national team.

   #13. Former international center Cezary Trybanski (218-79, currently plays in Lithuania) contributed to Dzukija's victory against the 15th-ranked Ezerunas-Karys 85-77 in the Lithuanian NKL (second division) on Saturday night. Trybanski scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Trybanski is ranked second on the list of the best rebounders in the league and also on the list of best blockers (first place). This season he has very good stats: 12.8ppg, 10.2rpg and 3.2bpg. Trybanski used to play for the Polish national team twelve years ago.

   #14. International center Przemyslaw Karnowski (216-93, is currently at the American university) managed to help Gonzaga University to win against the Loyola Marymount University 66-48 in the NCAA last Saturday. He scored 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Karnowski averaged so far 14.2ppg and 1.5rpg. He plays currently for the Polish national team.

   #15. International point guard Robert Skibniewski (183-83, currently plays in Slovakia) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Handlova crushing them 100-64 in the Slovakian Extraliga in Wednesday night's game. He scored 5 points, made 8 passes and 3 steals. Skibniewski has averaged so far 5.0ppg, 2.0rpg, 6.0apg and 1.7spg. He is also in the roster of the Polish national team.


The list of other players, who all have Polish passport but never been selected to any of Polish national teams:

   #1. Gal Mekel (190-PG-88, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Israel) led Maccabi Haifa to a victory against the closely-ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (11-9) 91-84 in the Israeli Winner League on Sunday night. Mekel scored 14 points and added 6 passes. Maccabi Bazan Haifa (13-7) is placed second in the Winner League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Mekel is currently first on the league's list of best passers. This season he has very good stats: 14.1ppg, 2.5rpg, 5.8apg and 1.4spg. Mekel has a dual citizenship: Polish and Israeli.

   #2. Konrad Wysocki (201-F-82, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Princeton, currently plays in EuroChallenge), who plays in Germany could not help EWE Baskets (5-1) to beat Khimik (3-3). He scored 8 points. The first-placed EWE Baskets was defeated 66-61 on the road by the second-ranked Khimik in the group L of EuroChallenge. Wysocki has averaged so far 7.3ppg and 3.8rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and German.

   #3. Marek Olesinski (203-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to a 1-point Air Force's victory against the University of New Mexico (15-3) 89-88 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Olesinski scored 15 points. The U.S. Air Force Academy has 8-9 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Olesinski has averaged so far 9.5ppg and 6.7rpg. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Olesinski has never played in Poland.

   #4. Vitaliy Kovalenko (203-F-84, currently plays in EuroChallenge) faced previously mentioned Konrad Wysocki in the EuroChallenge last game. Kovalenko managed to help Khimik-OPZ Yuzny in a victory against the leader EWE Baskets (5-1) 66-61. He scored 5 points and added 4 passes in 24 minutes. Kovalenko has averaged so far 6.2ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.4apg in the 14 games he played so far. He has both Polish and Ukrainian nationalities.

   #5. Robert Lewandowski (208-F-89, college: Texas Tech, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to a BK Usti nad Labem's victory against the fifth-ranked Basketbal Svitavy (10-21) 92-78 in the Czech Republic NBL last Saturday. Lewandowski recorded 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. SLUNETA Usti nad Labem (9-22) is placed seventh in Group A2. Lewandowski's stats this season are: 13.0ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.8apg. He is a naturalized American. Lewandowski used to play for PGE Turow Zgorzelec in Polish league.

   #6. Patrick Wischnewski (191-G-87, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProB (third division) was not able to help Leitershofen (10-12) in their last game. Despite his good performance Leitershofen (#8) lost 84-90 in Rhoendorf to the leading Dragons in the Group South. Wischnewski recorded 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 35 minutes. He averaged so far 14.2ppg and 1.5rpg in the 20 games. Wischnewski also holds two passports: German and Polish. Despite his Polish nationality, Wischnewski previously played for the German U16 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Polish team.

   #7. David Michalczyk (180-PG-89, currently plays in Germany) helped Hanau win their game against the sixth-ranked Licher Baeren 77-73 in the German ProB (third division) on Saturday night. Michalczyk recorded 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 22 minutes. He has averaged so far 3.2ppg, 1.1rpg and 2.6apg in the 10 games. Michalczyk has Polish and German nationalities.

   #8. Patryk Bajtus (206-C-91, currently plays in Portugal) helped Barcelos win their game against one of league's weakest teams Alges 81-76 in the Portuguese LPB last Saturday. Bajtus scored 5 points, had 7 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 23 minutes. He has averaged so far 4.6ppg and 4.3rpg in the nine games.

   #9. Anatoliy Shundel (190-PG-93, currently plays in Ukraine) was not able to secure a victory for Mykolaiv in their game against BC Donetsk in the Ukrainian Superleague. Shundel recorded only 4 points. His team was defeated 77-66. This season he averages just 1.2ppg.

   #10. Maciej Baginski (195-SF-95, currently plays in Iceland) helped Njardvik win their game against the closely-ranked Keflavik 100-94 in the Icelandic Dominos League in Thursday night's game. Baginski scored 7 points in 30 minutes. He has averaged so far 8.3ppg and 3.0rpg in the 21 games. Baginski has dual citizenship: Polish and Icelandic. Despite his Polish passport, Baginski currently plays for the Icelandic U18 national team and cannot be called to the Polish team.
