Nuno Cortez
Former international center Nuno Cortez (205-C-82) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Oliveirense, receiving a Eurobasket.com Proliga Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 24 points and 18 rebounds, while his team crushed Sangalhos (#6, 10-10) with 19-point margin 67-48. Oliveirense maintains the 2nd position in Portuguese Proliga. They are still close to the very top. Oliveirense would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 17-3 record. In the team's last game Cortez had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Oliveirense's top player in his first season with the team. Nuno Cortez has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 17.1ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 11.0rpg) and averages impressive 52.6% FGP and 41.8% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was 37-year old former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-F-75) of league's leader Maia Basket. Marcal had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Of course he lead Maia Basket to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Angra (#7, 7-13) 75-49. Of course Maia Basket still keep the league's top spot. His team lost just three games this season, while they won 17 matches. Marcal is a newcomer at Maia Basket, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.4ppg (#1). He also registered 10.3 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Aylton Medeiros (194-F-88) of Electrico FC (#3). Medeiros showcased his all-around game by recording 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Electrico FC, leading his team to a 54-47 win against the lower-ranked Terceira (#8, 6-14). Electrico FC is closer and closer to the top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 16-4 record is not that bad... Medeiros has a great season in Portugal. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.6ppg (7th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Miguel Toreia (93) of Leca - 25 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Jose Almeida (199-F-86) of Guifoes - 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Artur Castela (200-C/F-93) of Benfica B - 11 points and 14 rebounds
7. Tiago Lopes (87) of Leca - 26 points and 7 rebounds
8. Andre Libanio (194-F-86) of Guifoes - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Alvaro Pontes (190-F-85) of Angra - 20 points and 9 rebounds
10. Chano Rashiduddin (208-C-88) of Terceira - 21 points and 15 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
