Frederick
Gentry
35-year old forward Frederick Gentry (201-F-77) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Benfica and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 21.
He had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, while his team crushed Galitos-Tley (#10, 2-16) with 25-point margin 88-63. It allowed Benfica to consolidate first place in the Portuguese league. Benfica has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 18-1. It's Gentry's second year at Benfica and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Frederick Gentry averages this season 9.9ppg and 6.1rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Ivan Almeida (198-G-89) of Vitoria SC. He is naturalized Cape Verdean guard in his first season at Vitoria SC. In the last game Almeida recorded impressive double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Vitoria SC lost that game 68-73 to slightly higher-ranked Academica (#3, 14-5). Vitoria SC managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 10-9 record is not bad and everything may still change. Almeida is a newcomer at Vitoria SC and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.8ppg (#3). He also registered 9.2 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Jamarkus Holt (205-F) of Alges (#11). Holt scored 21 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Holt's great performance Alges lost 80-88in overtime to slightly higher-ranked Fisica (#9, 6-13). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Alges can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-17 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Holt he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Holt has individually a great season in Portugal. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.8ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 11.1rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. LaceDarius Dunn (193-G-87) of Benfica - 18 points, 2 rebounds and 8 assists
5. Joao Gomes (201-SG-85) of Benfica - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Joao Santos (193-G/F-83) of Fisica - 23 points and 4 rebounds
7. Steve Baker (187-G-90) of Sampaense - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Marcel Momplaisir (205-C-81) of Lusitania - 17 points and 10 rebounds
9. Arnette Hallman (199-F-88) of Academica - 13 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Shawn Jackson (203-F/C-71) of CAB Madeira - 13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
