The Regular Season in LPB just ended.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Ovarense. 4th ranked host Ovarense (13-7) lost to first ranked Benfica (19-1) 78-62. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-62. The former international Joao Gomes (201-85) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international center Claudio Fonseca (206-89) chipped in 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side the former international forward Miguel Miranda (205-78, agency: Dynamics Global Management) responded with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Benfica have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-1 record. Ovarense at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost.
Fifth ranked Vitoria SC (11-9) crushed at home 8th ranked Lusitania (7-12) by 18 points 88-70, which is the biggest margin this round. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lusitania. Naturalized Cape Verdean guard Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) to lead the effort and Charlie Swiggett supported him with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals. Vitoria SC's coach Fernando Sa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 22 points by American guard John Huggins (188-82, college: Amer.Internat.) did not help to save the game for Lusitania. Vitoria SC maintains fifth position with 11-9 record. Lusitania at the other side keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 22: Alges won against Galitos-Tley on the opponent's court 71-63. Fisica unfortunately lost to Academica in a home game 57-61. Barcelos managed to beat Sampaense on the road 73-62. Bottom-ranked Galitos-Tley was defeated by CAB Madeira on its own court 66-79.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points and 17 rebounds by Jamarkus Holt of Alges.

Galitos-Tley - Alges 63-71

Everything could happen in Barreiro at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Alges and 11th ranked Galitos-Tley had identical 2-17 record. Even 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by the former international guard Antonio Tavares (183-75) did not help to save the game for Galitos-Tley. American guard Jeremy Bynum (190-88, college: Jacksonville St., agency: Interperformances) added 11 points and 4 assists for lost side. Four Galitos-Tley players scored in double figures.
