Sampaense overcame Academica to level things up in the quarterfinal series. Sampaense made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Academica turnovers. American guard Steve Baker (187-90, college: Green Bay) scored 25 points to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Jorge Sing (192-77) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Baker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international point guard Mario Fernandes (176-82) responded with 18 points and Polish center Szymon Lukasiak (208-87, college: Jacksonville) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Benfica eased to the second straight victory in the quarterfinal series. The game without a history. Benfica led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The former international Joao Gomes (201-85) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard LaceDarius Dunn (193-87, college: Baylor, agency: Three Eye Sports) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Benfica players scored in double figures. Benfica's coach Carlos Lisboa felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 27 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Durrell Nevels (198-86, college: Cent.Arkansas) did not help to save the game for Lusitania. Guard Augusto Sobrinho (188-85) added 18 points for the guests.
