Here is the weekly review of the top performing Portuguese players, who play currently abroad.

Mery Andrade
Mery Andrade
#1. This week's number one is an experienced former international forward Mery Andrade (181-75, college: ODU, currently plays in Italy). She led Lucca to a victory over the closely-ranked Taranto (12-6) 66-60 in the Italian A1 in Thursday night's game. Andrade was MVP of the game. She recorded 17 points and had 6 steals in 36 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Gesam Gas Le Mura Lucca (15-3) is placed second in the A1. It was her team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Andrade belongs to league's best passers (ranked #6) and also on the list of most steals (first place). This year she averages: 9.1ppg, 6.1rpg, 2.8apg, 4.1spg, 2FGP: 47.1%, 3FGP: 4.8% and FT: 78.0% in the 19 games she played so far. Andrade played for the Portuguese senior national team four years ago.

Debora Escorcio
Debora Escorcio
#2. Second place goes to an international power forward Debora Escorcio (186-84, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish LF2 (12th division). She could not help ADBA (7-13) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Escorcio's very good performance the tenth-placed ADBA was defeated 76-72 on the road by the higher-ranked Pabellon Ourense (#9) in the Group A. She recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 14 rebounds. Escorcio also added 2 blocks. The Regular Season already ended. Escorcio has individually a very good season with high stats. She averages: 15.3ppg, 9.7rpg, 1.4apg, 1.1bpg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 51.3% and FT: 62.9%. Ex-CAB Madeira player is in the roster of the Portuguese senior national team.

Sonia Borges dos Reis
Sonia Borges dos Reis
#3. The Portuguese player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Sonia Borges dos Reis (189-84, currently plays in Spain). Borges dos Reis was the major contributor in Hondarribia-Irun's victory against the closely-ranked Navarra Pamplona (8-12) 65-59 in the Spanish LFB on Sunday night. She scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 25 minutes. Hondarribia-Irun (6-14) is placed ninth in the LFB. The Regular Season already ended. This year Borges dos Reis' overall stats are: 5.8ppg, 3.1rpg, 2FGP: 48.5% and FT: 75.0% in the 19 games. She has a dual citizenship: Portuguese and Spanish. Former Staples Santarem starter played for the Portuguese national team three years ago.

Carla Freitas
Carla Freitas
#4. Guard Carla Freitas (170-80, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Gernika (11-11) crushing them 87-43 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) in Saturday night's game. Freitas scored 11 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Orion-GDKO Ibaizabal Galdakao (14-8) is placed fourth in Group B. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Freitas has relatively good stats this season: 11.2ppg, 3.8rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg. She is also Portuguese national team player.

Carla Nascimento
Carla Nascimento
#5. International guard Carla Nascimento (171-86, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Oviedo (8-12) crushing them 65-44 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) last Saturday. Nascimento scored 10 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 35 minutes. CB Al-Qazeres (16-4) is placed second in Group A. The Regular Season already ended. Nascimento is currently fourth on the league's list of best passers with 3.5apg. This year she also averages: 10.7ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.5spg in the 20 games. Nascimento plays currently for the Portuguese national team.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Portuguese passport:

#1. Cesaria Ambrosio (180-F-95, currently plays in Switzerland), who plays in the Swiss LNA could not help Ovronnaz-Martigny Basket (2-3) to beat Riva Basket (3-2). She scored 5 points. Ovronnaz-Martigny Basket (#4) was defeated 68-58 on the road by the higher-ranked Riva Basket (#3) in the Places 1-6 group. There are only two games left until the end of the Second Stage.
