Ovarense made a big impact this week, visiting and winning at Guimares, leaving Benfica as the only team with no defeats on the competition.

Jose Miguel Barbosa (176-G-90) was the team MVP in a match where he scored 22 points and dished 5 assists. Fernando Neves' 21 points and Miguel Miranda's 9 rebounds were also of great importance, in a game where they faced a strong team with three North-American players. Nevertheless, it was Paulo Cunha, with a double-double (16 points, 16 rebounds) to make it as the Vitria's best player.

Benfica travelled to Barcelos and had a very hard time to beat the home team. They needed a last second basket to secure the win. Benfica made 10 more turnovers than Barcelos, what made possible the Minho team to dispute the game. Carlos Andrade did not play and Lacedarius Dunn is having difficulties to acquire game time in a Benfica team that keeps a clear sheet in the league.

The good news are the league is more balanced than ever. To prove it, the results of the matches played in the islands. CAB Madeira was surprised by Sampaense and Lusitania lost to Alges in the second overtime. With Fsica beating Galitos at home, we have now 7 teams with 1 or 2 wins and all of them seem able enough to compete for a playoff spot.

What we are learning is that it isn't mandatory to have american players in the roster to be a strong team in LPB. More surprises coming next week?
