There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with extra overtimes and games ending by tiny margin.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ilhavo. First ranked Illiabum faced 4th ranked Esgueira. Host Illiabum (11-1) defeated guests from (8-5) 76-67. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 26-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Illiabum outrebounded Esgueira 55-30 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Esgueira helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Croatian forward Filip Toric (201-89, college: Barry) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Joao Figueiredo (183-79) chipped in 26 points and 6 assists. Illiabum's coach Pedro Nuno used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Pedro Valente (175-85) who recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds. Illiabum have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-1 record, which they share with FC Porto. Newly promoted Esgueira keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Illiabum will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Esgueira will play at home against Guifoes (#9) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Twelfth-ranked Angrabasket (1-12) made lots of trouble for third ranked Ginasio (9-3) in Figueira da Foz. Ginasio managed to secure only six-point victory 99-93. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a good game for the former international guard Jose Costa (187-73) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 9 assists. Filipe Pinheiro contributed with 24 points and 6 steals for the winners. Naturalized American forward Rick Cardoso (201-85, college: CS Stanislaus) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds for Angrabasket. Ginasio maintains third position with 9-3 record having just two points less than leader Illiabum. Angrabasket lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Ginasio will play against Terceira (#6) in Angra Heroismo in the next round. Angrabasket will have a break next round.
The game in was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Terceira (7-5) played at the court of seventh ranked Academia (5-7). Academia defeated Terceira 75-59 on Sunday. Academia have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Academia maintains seventh position with 5-7 record. Terceira at the other side dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Academia will meet Leca (#11) on the road in the next round. Terceira will play against Ginasio (#3) in Figueira da Foz and hope to secure a win.
The game in Guifoes was also worth to mention about. Second ranked FC Porto Ferpinta (11-1) played at the court of 8th ranked Guifoes (4-8). FC Porto Ferpinta defeated Guifoes 74-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Guifoes. The winners were led by Joao Torrie who scored that evening 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. FC Porto Ferpinta keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Illiabum. Guifoes at the other side keep the eighth place with eight games lost. FC Porto Ferpinta will have a break next round. Guifoes will play against Esgueira (#4) and hope to win that game.
The game in was also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Electrico FC (7-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Academia (5-7). Electrico FC managed to secure a 5-point victory 61-56 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Academia. Electrico FC have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Academia keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Electrico FC will face Benfica B (#8) in Lisboa in the next round. Academia will play on the road against Leca and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 12 Leca was crushed by Benfica B in Lisboa 79-54. Electrico FC beat Sangalhos at home 89-87.
The best stats of 12th round was 41 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds by Carlos Ferreirinho of Benfica B.


Academia - Terceira 75-59

The game in was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Terceira (7-5) played at the court of seventh ranked Academia (5-7). Academia defeated Terceira 75-59 on Sunday. Academia have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Academia maintains seventh position with 5-7 record. Terceira at the other side dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Academia will meet Leca (#11) on the road in the next round. Terceira will play against Ginasio (#3) in Figueira da Foz and hope to secure a win.

Benfica B - Leca 79-54

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Leca's (1-10) road loss to tenth ranked Benfica B (4-8) 54-79 on Saturday. The game without a history. Benfica B led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Leca to just 6 points in first quarter. Benfica B had a 34-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Benfica B made 7 blocks. Leca was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was swingman Carlos Ferreirinho (201-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who scored 41 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. International power forward Pedro Belo (212-92) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Gonzalo Ranito who recorded 18 points and swingman Jose Gomes (188-78) added 15 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Benfica B moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Sangalhos and Guifoes. Leca lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. Benfica B will face Sangalhos (#10) on the road in the next round. Leca will play against Academia and hope to win that game.

It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Guifoes. The winners were led by power forward Joao Torrie (200-91) who scored that evening 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Andre Bessa (179-89) supported him with 10 points and 4 assists. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) by forward Fernando Ramos (195-84) did not help to save the game for Guifoes. Forward Fabio Fernandes (201-86) added 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. FC Porto Ferpinta keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Illiabum. Guifoes at the other side keep the eighth place with eight games lost. Ginasio - Angra 99-93 OT

Twelfth-ranked Angrabasket (1-12) made lots of trouble for third ranked Ginasio (9-3) in Figueira da Foz. Ginasio managed to secure only six-point victory 99-93. However their fans expected much easier game. Angrabasket was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 24-20 charge of Ginasio, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 13-7. Ginasio forced 25 Angrabasket turnovers. It was a good game for the former international guard Jose Costa (187-73) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 9 assists. Forward Filipe Pinheiro (190-90) contributed with 24 points and 6 steals for the winners. Naturalized American forward Rick Cardoso (201-85, college: CS Stanislaus) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Larry Grant (188-89, college: Millersville) added 22 points and 5 assists in the effort for Angrabasket. Ovarense Dolce Vita (LPB) added to their roster 23-year old forward Joao Grosso (196-94). He played last season at FC Porto (LPB), but left the team in May.'17. In 31 games he had 3.1ppg and 1.4rpg. Terceira Basket SUSIARTE (Proliga) agreed terms with 27-year old point guard Nuno Morais (183-90). He has played for the last nine seasons at Ovarense Dolce Vita in the LPB, but left the team in Mar.'17. In 17 games he had 9.2ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.4apg last season. Proliga will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. Morais' team made it to the Portuguese Cup final in 2016. Galitos-Barreiro (LPB) re-signed 27-year old guard Diogo Correia (182-90). He has played there for the last two seasons. In 37 LPB games he recorded 6.8ppg, 1.1rpg and 1.2apg last season. Correia helped them to make it to the Portuguese Hugo dos Santos Cup Semifinals. His team won Portuguese Cup in 2012.
