There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Proliga.

Eighth-ranked Terceira (6-12) gave a tough game to first ranked Oliveirense (16-2) in Oliveira on Sunday. Oliveirense managed to secure only two-point victory 67-65. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Terceira. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Nuno Freitas (180-81) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and the former international center Nuno Cortez (205-82) who added 10 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Forward Frederico Tavares (194-88) responded with 28 points. Oliveirense maintains first position with 16-2 record. Terceira at the other side keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Oliveirense are looking forward to face Illiabum (#4) in Ilhavo in the next round. Terceira will play on the road against the league's second-placed Maia Basket (#2) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Important game to mention about took place in Sangalhos. Ninth ranked Benfica B (5-13) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Sangalhos (10-9) 56-54 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. The winners were led by power forward Candido Sa (202-92) who scored that evening 19 points and 9 rebounds and Pedro Belo supported him with 7 points and 17 rebounds. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by forward Luis Fonte (191-79) did not help to save the game for Sangalhos. Newly promoted Benfica B maintains ninth position with 5-13 record. Sangalhos at the other side dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. Benfica B will play against higher ranked Guifoes (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sangalhos will have a break next round.
Second ranked Maia Basket (15-3) crushed at home 6th ranked Guifoes (8-10) by 20 points 90-70, which is the biggest margin this round on Sunday night. The best player for the winners was Nuno Marcal who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds. Rui Mota produced 16 points for the guests. Maia Basket have an impressive six-game winning streak. Maia Basket maintains second position with 15-3 record behind leader Oliveirense. Loser Guifoes keep the sixth place with ten games lost. Maia Basket will meet at home Terceira (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Guifoes will play against Benfica B in Lisboa and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 20 Ginasio lost to Illiabum on the opponent's court 59-66. Electrico FC managed to outperform Leca in a home game 75-63.


Sangalhos - Benfica B 54-56

Important game to mention about took place in Sangalhos. Ninth ranked Benfica B (5-13) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Sangalhos (10-9) 56-54 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sangalhos won fourth quarter 13-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Benfica B made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Benfica B outrebounded Sangalhos 49-28 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by power forward Candido Sa (202-92) who scored that evening 19 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Pedro Belo (214-92) supported him with 7 points and 17 rebounds. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by forward Luis Fonte (191-79) did not help to save the game for Sangalhos. Swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) added 15 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Newly promoted Benfica B maintains ninth position with 5-13 record. Sangalhos at the other side dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. Second ranked Maia Basket (15-3) crushed at home 6th ranked Guifoes (8-10) by 20 points 90-70, which is the biggest margin this round on Sunday night. The game without a history. Maia Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Maia Basket made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Maia Basket outrebounded Guifoes 32-15 including a 20-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maia Basket made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-75) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds. Center Paulo Diamantino (203-85) chipped in 18 points. Four Maia Basket players scored in double figures. Very expected game in Ilhavo where 10th ranked Ginasio (4-14) was defeated by fifth ranked Illiabum (11-8) 66-59 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 37-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Illiabum outrebounded Ginasio 40-28 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was swingman Tiago Raimundo (194-90) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). International Miguel Queiroz (202-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Electrico FC maintains third position with 14-4 record having just two points less than leader Oliveirense. Leca lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Ginasio. Electrico FC will meet at home Angrabasket (#7) in the next round. Leca will play against Ginasio (#10) in Figueira da Foz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
