The Regular Season in Proliga just ended.

Proliga top team - Maia Basket (17-3) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Angrabasket (7-13) 75-49. The game was mostly controlled by Maia Basket. Angrabasket managed to win fourth quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Angrabasket 44-26 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-75) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Pedro Tavares (182-83) chipped in 23 points and 4 assists during the contest. Maia Basket's coach Rui Silva felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Alvaro Pontes (190-85) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Maia Basket have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Maia Basket maintains first position with 17-3 record, which they share with Oliveirense. Angrabasket lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 13 games lost.
The game in Sangalhos supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked Oliveirense (17-3) played at the court of 5th ranked Sangalhos (10-10). Oliveirense did not have too big problems ending evening with a very confident victory 67-48. The former international center Nuno Cortez (205-82) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds to lead the effort and Nuno Freitas supported him with 7 points and 9 assists. Oliveirense's coach Sergio Salvador allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 12 points and 6 rebounds by swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) did not help to save the game for Sangalhos. Oliveirense keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Maia Basket. Sangalhos at the other side keep the fifth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Guifoes.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 22: Benfica B lost to Leca on the opponent's court 65-71. Electrico FC managed to outperform Terceira in a home game 54-47. Bottom-ranked Ginasio was rolled over Guifoes on the road 80-61.

Leca - Benfica B 71-65

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Leca and 9th ranked Benfica B had identical 5-14 record. This time Leca used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Lisboa 71-65. Benfica B was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Tiago Lopes (-87) notched 26 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Miguel Toreia (-93) supported him with 25 points and 5 rebounds. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by power forward Candido Sa (202-92) did not help to save the game for Benfica B. Power forward Artur Castela (200-93) added 11 points and 14 rebounds for lost side. Four Benfica B players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leca (6-14) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Terceira. Benfica B at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth position with 15 games lost.

Electrico FC - Terceira 54-47

Very predictable result in Ponte de Sor where third ranked Electrico FC (16-4) defeated 8th ranked Terceira (6-14) 54-47. Terceira was ahead by 11 points at the halftime before a 32-14 second half run of Electrico FC. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Terceira to just 7 points in third quarter and to 14 points in second half. Electrico FC forced 25 Terceira turnovers. Forward Aylton Medeiros (194-88) notched 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and guard Joao Lanzinha (188-89) supported him with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Even a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds by American center Chano Rashiduddin (208-88, college: Clark Atlanta) did not help to save the game for Terceira. Forward Thiago Tomassi (193) added 8 points and 4 steals for lost side. Electrico FC have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 16-4 record behind leader Maia Basket. Terceira lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Leca.

Guifoes - Ginasio 80-61

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Ginasio (4-16) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked Guifoes (10-10) 80-61. The game was mostly controlled by Guifoes. Ginasio was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ginasio 35-22 including 17 on the offensive glass. Guifoes players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The former international swingman Rui Mota (190-78) notched 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and forward Andre Libanio (194-86) supported him with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 9 points and 8 rebounds by Josimar Vieira (-90) did not help to save the game for Ginasio. point guard Pedro Marques (173-95) added 12 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guifoes moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sangalhos. Ginasio lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost.
