28-year old guard Louis Darby (196-G-84) had a very impressive game in the last round for Rovinari and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 25. He had a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds, while his team edged out CSM Bucuresti (#8, 15-10) 86-84. Rovinari maintains the 11th position in Romanian league. Rovinari is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 12-13 record. In the team's last game Darby had a remarkable 76.9% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Rovinari and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Long Beach State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Darby is league's best scorer averaging so far 20.9ppg. Darby is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 6.8rpg) and averages solid 61.3% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Perry Petty (185-G-88) of Giurgiu. He is American guard in his first season at Giurgiu. In the last game Petty recorded impressive double-double of 18 points and 10 assists. Bad luck as Giurgiu lost that game 67-73 to slightly higher-ranked Pitesti (#10, 12-13). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Giurgiu keeps 12th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 8-17 record. Petty is a newcomer at Giurgiu and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.8ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 5.0rpg and 4.1apg. Former University of Texas-Pan American star Petty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Octavian Calota (186-PG-84) of Pitesti (#10). Calota got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for five rebounds and seven assists. He was a key player of Pitesti, leading his team to a 73-67 win against slightly lower-ranked Giurgiu (#12, 8-17). The chances of Pitesti ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 13 games, recording just twelve victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Calota could help Pitesti to bring them higher in the standings. Calota has a very solid season. In 21 games in Romania he scored 8.6ppg.
