The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Oradea (18-4) in Medias on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by eighth ranked Gaz Metan (14-8) 71-64. Gaz Metan forced 25 Oradea turnovers and outrebounded them 42-31 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Montenegrin-Serbian forward Ivan Ivanovic (205-80, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 9 rebounds. Bulgarian Ivan Lilov (196-88) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Gaz Metan's coach Marcel Tenter used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard William Franklin (183-85, college: Bradley) replied with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Oradea. Gaz Metan have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 14-8 record. Oradea lost third consecutive game. They still keep top place with four games lost. Gaz Metan are looking forward to face Pitesti (#11) on the road in the next round. Oradea will play against Timba Timosoara (#13) in Timisoara and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Craiova (17-5) which hosted in Craiova one of their biggest challengers Targu Mures (15-7). Second ranked Craiova managed to get a 6-point victory 88-82. The former international center Ionut Dragusin (221-85) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Rade Dzambic chipped in 17 points and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side Montenegrin guard Branko Cuic (197-78) responded with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Craiova have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-5 record behind leader Oradea. Targu Mures at the other side keep the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Craiova will play against Miercurea Ciuc (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Targu Mures will play against CSM Bucuresti (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Fifteenth-ranked Farul Const. (3-19) used its home court advantage to challenge sixth ranked CSM Bucuresti (15-7) in Constanca on Saturday. The visitors from Bucuresti managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected much easier game. Brian Morris notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by Nenad Tomasevic did not help to save the game for Farul Const.. CSM Bucuresti have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Farul Const. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Miercurea Ciuc. CSM Bucuresti will meet at home Targu Mures (#5) in the next round. Farul Const. will play against Rovinari (#9) and hope to secure a win.

However their fans expected much easier game. Christopher Lee fired 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. CSU Sibiu moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Rovinari. Miercurea Ciuc lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. CSU Sibiu's next round opponent will be higher ranked Timisoara (#6) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Miercurea Ciuc will play against the league's second-placed Craiova (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Rovinari (11-11) and Giurgiu (8-14), which took place in Giurgiu. 9th ranked Rovinari lost to twelfth ranked Giurgiu in a road game 99-104 on Saturday. It was a very good performance for Perry Petty who helped to win the game recording 39 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Giurgiu maintains twelfth position with 8-14 record. Loser Rovinari keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Giurgiu will face higher ranked U-Mobitelco (#4) in Cluj in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.

Other games in round 22 were not that significant. Pitesti was beaten by Ploiesti on the road 71-67. Timba Timis. was destroyed by U.Mobitel.CN on its own court 72-95. Bottom-ranked Dinamo B. was outscored by Timisoara in a road game 112-63.



Ploiesti - Pitesti 71-67

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Ploiesti (15-7) beat at home 11th ranked Pitesti (10-12) 71-67 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 27-22 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Ploiesti made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Pitesti only scored eleven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Pitesti 39-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Pitesti was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Serbian Predrag Miletic (193-84) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!). The former international center Catalin Burlacu (210-77, agency: Court Side) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Ploiesti's coach Vladimir Arnautovic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Serbian guard Slobodan Popovic (198-80, agency: BeoExcell) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Croatian guard Pankracije Barac (196-81, agency: Court Side) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Pitesti. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Pitesti keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Ploiesti will face bottom-ranked CS Dinamo Bucuresti (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Pitesti will play against Gaz Metan (#8) in Medias.
