Perry Petty
24-year old guard Perry Petty (185-G-88) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Giurgiu and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 28.
He had the game-high 26 points adding nine rebounds and four assists for Giurgiu in his team's victory, helping them to beat Miercurea Ciuc (#15, 3-25) 83-70. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. Giurgiu maintains the 12th position in Romanian league. Giurgiu is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 10-18 record. In the team's last game Petty had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Giurgiu's top player in his first season with the team. University of Texas-Pan American graduate has very impressive stats this year. Petty is in league's top in points (5th best: 17.7ppg), assists (9th best: 4.2apg) and averages solid 2.2spg and 54.5% FGP. Worth to mention Petty played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

Second best performed player last round was Robert Sarovic (205-F-78) of Timisoara. He is Serbian-German forward in his first season at Timisoara. In the last game Sarovic recorded impressive double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds. It was enough for Timisoara to edge the lower-ranked Timba Timis. (#13, 8-20) by 3 points 91-88. This victory allowed Timisoara to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 19-9 record is not bad and everything may still change. Sarovic is a newcomer at Timisoara and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Marcel Jones (203-F-85) of Pitesti (#10). Jones showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Pitesti, leading his team to a 101-98 win against slightly higher-ranked CSM Bucuresti (#8, 16-12). The chances of Pitesti ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 15 games, recording just thirteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Jones could help Pitesti to bring them higher in the standings. Jones has a very solid season. In 24 games in Romania he scored 15.8ppg. He also has 5.7rpg and FGP: 62.9%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ivan Harris (201-F-84) of Miercurea Ciuc - 31 points and 5 rebounds
5. Vladimir Tica (208-C/F-81) of Ploiesti - 27 points and 6 rebounds
6. Jermont Horton (198-G-84) of Timba Timis. - 32 points and 5 rebounds
7. Stephen Sir (195-G-82) of CSM Bucuresti - 28 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Christopher Lee (206-C-84) of CSU Sibiu - 16 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
9. LeVar Seals (195-G-82) of Craiova - 27 points and 6 rebounds
10. Goran Martinic (183-PG-87) of CSM Bucuresti - 19 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
