Russia gained the second straight win at the 2013 World University Games. The hosts shot down Poland for 2-0 record in Group A. Veronika Dorosheva (188-PF-91) nailed 12 points to lead the winners. Poland fell at 0-2 record.
Russia held Poland to 11 points in the first frame and posted a 7-point lead. Poland managed just 6 points in the second period to face a 20-point halftime deficit. Russia went on a 20:9 run in the third term to clear off to a 31-point distance. The hosts did not loosen the grasp and sealed a comprehensive victory at the end. Tatiana Grigoryeva (179-F-90, agency: IPSA) and Mayorova netted 10 points each for the winners. Klaudia Sosnowska (186-PF-90) answered with 8 points for Poland. Ramona Casimiro (171-PG-92) had 6 points in the loss.

Nadezhda Orenburg (PBL) re-signed 21-year old international center Zhosselina Maiga (193-83kg-96). She has played there for the last three seasons. In 26 PBL games she averaged 7.3ppg and 4.5rpg last season. Maiga helped them to make it to the semifinals. She also played 6 games in Euroleague where she had 3.8ppg and 2.7rpg. Nadezhda Orenburg (PBL) signed 24-year old Russian international power forward Ksenia Tikhonenko (192-93, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov). She is a dual citizen owning also Kazakhstan passport. Tikhonenko has played for the last two seasons at Dynamo Moscow in the PBL. In 23 games she had 9.9ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg last season. She helped them to make it to the semifinals. Dynamo Kursk won Gubernator;s Cup posting three victories at the tournament. In the last game they overcame Dynamo Novosibirsk 91-53. The hosts opened the game with a strong 22-12 start and added a 23-14 rally in the second frame. Moreover Dynamo Kursk posted a massive 26-10 surge in the third period and closed the game with a 20-17 run.
