Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Russians who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Andrei Kirilenko (209-81, currently plays in NBA). He led Minnesota Timberwolves to a victory over the Phoenix Suns (23-47) crushing them 117-86 in the NBA in Friday night's game. Kirilenko was MVP of the game. He scored 20 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 25 minutes on the court. The Minnesota Timberwolves have 24-43 record this season. It's Kirilenko's first year with the team. Kirilenko has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 12.9ppg, 5.9rpg, 2.8apg, 1.1bpg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 57.2%(198-346), 3FGP: 29.2% and FT: 76.6% in the 49 games he played so far. Kirilenko is a naturalized American. He is currently a member of the Russian senior national team. Kirilenko used to play for CSKA Moscow in Russian league.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Alexey Shved (198-88, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Andrei Kirilenko. But that was another game of his team in NBA which we would like to mention. Shved, who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Minnesota Timberwolves (24-43) in their last game. Despite Shved's good performance the Minnesota Timberwolves lost 77-92 on the road to the Memphis Grizzlies. He was the top scorer with 12 points in 24 minutes. It's Shved's first season with the team. Shved has relatively good stats this year: 9.5ppg, 2.5rpg, 3.8apg, 2FGP: 43.5%, 3FGP: 28.9% and FT: 73.2% in the 62 games. He is in the roster of the Russian senior national team.

   #3. The Russian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U18 international forward Stanislav Dikiy (201-88, currently plays in Ukraine). He contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked BC Odessa (13-23) crushing them 108-87 in the Ukrainian Superleague on Sunday night. Dikiy recorded 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Ferro-ZNTU Zaporozhye (23-14) is placed second in the Superleague. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Dikiy's overall stats this season are: 2.6ppg, 1.7rpg, 2FGP: 62.2%(28-45) and FT: 71.4%. He played for the Russian U18 national team seven years ago.

   #4. Guard Teymuraz Babunashvili (185-90, currently plays in Georgia) managed to help Kutaisi Kutaisi to win against the fourth-ranked Energy Invest (12-5) 85-84 in the Georgian Superleague on Friday night. He scored 5 points and added 6 passes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Kutaisi Kutaisi (1-0) is placed in the Superleague. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Babunashvili's overall stats this season are: 5.6ppg, 2.2rpg and 2.3apg. He has a dual citizenship: Russian and Georgian. Babunashvili used to play for the Russian U18 national team back in 2008.

Former U20 international forward Maxim Zakharov (198-89, college: E.Utah JC, currently plays in Belgium), who plays in the Belgian Ethias League was not able to help VOO Verviers-Pepinster (4-17) in their last game. Despite his good performance the bottom-ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster was crushed 99-60 in Quaregnon by the higher-ranked (#3) Belfius Mons-Hainaut. Zakharov was the second best scorer with 10 points in 23 minutes. It was VOO Verviers-Pepinster's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Zakharov's overall stats are: 4.0ppg and 2.2rpg in the 16 games. He used to play for the Russian U20 national team four years ago.

   #6. Center Ruslan Pateev (213-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an Arizona St.'s surprising victory against the University of Detroit Mercy (9-7) 83-68 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1 in Wednesday night's game. Pateev scored only 2 points. The Arizona State University has 10-9 conference record this season. The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA. Pateev is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Arizona St.'s roster. His total stats this season are: 8.8ppg and 5.9rpg. Pateev is a former U20 international player as he played for the Russian team three years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Russian passport but never been selected to any of Russian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Lazaros Papadopoulos (210-C-80, currently plays in Greece) led PAOK to a victory against the closely-ranked Aris (9-11) 84-72 in a derby game in the Greek A1 last Saturday. He scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. PAOK Thessaloniki (14-8) is placed fourth in the A1. It's Papadopoulos' first season with the team. Papadopoulos is currently second on the league's list of best rebounders. He has very reliable stats this season: 12.1ppg, 7.6rpg and 3.0apg. Papadopoulos has a dual citizenship: Russian and Greek.

   #2. Raul Lopez (183-PG-80, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Gescrap BB's victory against the tenth-ranked Asefa Estudiantes (12-13) 88-79 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. Lopez recorded 7 points and added 3 assists. Gescrap Bizkaia Bilbao Basket (16-9) is placed fourth in the ACB. Lopez's overall stats this season are: 6.4ppg, 1.4rpg, 2.8apg and 1.1spg.

   #3. Dmitry Flis (203-F/C-84, currently plays in Spain) led River Andorra to a victory over the tenth-ranked Caceres Basket (9-13) crushing them 84-64 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Friday. He was the best player in that game. Flis had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds in 23 minutes. B.C. River Andorra (3-0) is placed in the LEB Gold. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Flis belongs to league's best blockers and is ranked #2 with 1.3bpg. This year he also averages: 12.4ppg and 4.9rpg in the 23 games he played so far. Flis is another player who holds two passports: Russian and Spanish.

   #4. Aleksey Adediran (204-C-82, college: Binghamton, currently plays in Latvia), who plays in the Latvian LBL could not help Liepaja (11-18) in their last game. Despite Adediran's very good performance Liepaja was badly defeated 112-94 at home by the higher-ranked (#6) Jelgava. He recorded 16 points in 26 minutes. Adediran has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.6ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.3apg in the seven games. Adediran has both Nigerian and Russian nationalities.

   #5. Albert Kuppe (195-F-88, currently plays in Germany) was the major contributor in a Oettinger Rockets Gotha's surprising victory against the fourth-ranked BG Karlsruhe (14-6) 91-85 in the German ProA (second division) last Friday. He scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. BiG Oettinger Rockets Gotha (10-17) is placed 14th in the ProA. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Kuppe's overall stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.4apg. He also holds two passports: Russian and German. Despite Kuppe's Russian nationality, he previously played for the German U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Russian team.

   #6. Nikita Khartchenkov (200-F-87, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) was not able to help NBC (13-14) in their last game. Despite Khartchenkov's very good performance NBC lost in an overtime 84-89 on their home court in Nurnberg to the higher-ranked (#4) BG Karlsruhe. He was the second best scorer with 18 points in 32 minutes. Khartchenkov has very impressive stats this year: 15.4ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.2apg in the 11 games. He has Russian and German nationalities. Despite Khartchenkov's Russian passport, he previously played for the German U20 national team and probably cannot be called to the Russian team.

   #7. Dmitri Lipovtsev (207-C-86, currently plays in Ukraine) helped Musson win their game against the closely-ranked VolinBasket 96-89 in the Ukrainian Higher League (second division) in Saturday night's game. Lipovtsev scored 26 points (!!!), had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Lipovtsev is ranked sixth on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best rebounders (sixth place). This season he has very high stats. Lipovtsev averages: 17.7ppg, 6.8rpg, 2.6apg, 1.5bpg and 1.5spg.

   #8. Anton Kazarnovski (205-F/C-85, currently plays in Israel), who plays in the Israeli National League (second division) was not able to secure a victory for Hapoel Kazrin (10-12) in their last game. Despite his good performance Hapoel Kazrin lost 88-92 on the road to the second-ranked Ironi Nahariya. Kazarnovski recorded 13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks in 36 minutes. This year he has relatively solid stats: 14.5ppg, 8.8rpg and 2.9apg in the 22 games. Kazarnovski holds both Russian and Israeli passports. Despite his Russian nationality, Kazarnovski previously played for the Israeli university national team.

   #9. Igor Simin (197-G-84, agency: Avi Zilberman, currently plays in Israel) helped Beer Yaakov win their game against the league outsider Maccabi Kiryat Bialik 91-77 in the Israeli National League (second division) last Tuesday. Simin recorded 14 points and added 5 passes. Simin's total stats this season are: 9.8ppg, 3.0rpg, 2.4apg and 1.5spg. He holds both Russian and Israeli passports. Despite Simin's Russian nationality, he previously played for the Israeli U21 national team.

   #10. Giorgi Kvelashvili (206-C-81, currently plays in Georgia) helped Batumi win their game against the league outsider STU 86-75 in the Georgian Superleague on Friday night. Kvelashvili recorded 6 points in 17 minutes. This year Kvelashvili's total stats are: 8.8ppg and 5.9rpg in the 18 games. He has Russian and Georgian nationalities.

Zenit suffered roster setback going into the season. Anton Pushkov(208-C-88, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) got sidelined with a serious injury. The centre suffered ruptured ACL and is expected to miss around 9 months of action. Anton Psuhkov joined Zenit back in 2015. He tallied 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in VTB League last season. Pushkov also notched 4.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per appearance in EuroCup.   [read more]

Newly promoted Parma Basket Perm (VTB) landed 24-year old American forward Tre' McLean (196-93kg-93). He just graduated from Chattanooga (NCAA). McLean has played there for the last four years. In 30 games he averaged 13.7ppg, 5.4rpg, 2.2apg and 1.6spg last season. It was a very successful year in his career as he was selected to All-SoCon 3rd Team. Uralmash Ekaterinburg (Superleague 2) strengthened their roster with addition of 25-year old guard Sergey Rasskazov (193-92). It is actually his comeback to Ekaterinburg as he has played here before. Rasskazov was about to sign at Spartak Primorie Vladivostok in the Superleague 1. Superleague 2 will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time.
