PBL Round 25: CSKA Moscow beats Khimky in the most crucial game of the week - May 3, 2013

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in PBL.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Moscow. First ranked CSKA Moscow faced their biggest opponent Khimky. Host CSKA Moscow (16-2) defeated guests from Khimki (12-5) 74-65. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Khimky. Serbian center Nenad Krstic (212-83) fired 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) chipped in 10 points and 7 assists. International Sergey Monya (202-83) produced 10 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CSKA Moscow have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-2 record. Khimky at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. CSKA Moscow are looking forward to face Krasnie Krilya (#6) in Samara in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Khimky will play on the road against Lokomotiv (#4) in Kuban and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Enisey Krasnoyarsk managed to get a third victory. This time they won against sixth-ranked Unics Kazan 83-70. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Davon Jefferson (204-86, college: USC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Zabian Dowdell contributed with 17 points and 8 assists for the winners. point guard Mire Chatman (187-78, college: UTPA, agency: Higher Vision Sports) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds for Unics Kazan. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Enisey Krasnoyarsk maintains tenth place with 3-13 record. Unics Kazan lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Enisey Krasnoyarsk will play against higher ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Unics Kazan will play against Spartak-Prim. (#9) in Vladivostok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 25 N.Novgorod defeated Spartak-Prim. in Nizhny Novgorod 92-87.

Bottom-ranked Enisey Krasnoyarsk managed to get a third victory. This time they won against sixth-ranked Unics Kazan 83-70. Enisey Krasnoyarsk dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Unics Kazan's 30. They outrebounded Unics Kazan 42-26 including 32 on the defensive glass. Unics Kazan was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Spartak-Prim.'s (6-10) home loss to eighth ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod (8-10) 87-92. It was a very good performance for the former international Semen Antonov (202-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Dmitry Golovin (192-88) contributed with 22 points and 5 assists for the winners. Avtodor Saratov (VTB) landed 23-year old international center Artem Klimenko (214-114kg-94). It is actually his comeback to Saratov as he has played here before. BC Khimki Moscow Region (VTB) re-signed 29-year old international guard Alexey Shved (198-73kg-88, agency: Alti Sport). He has played there for the last two seasons. In 14 Eurocup games he recorded very impressive stats: 22.1ppg, 4.0rpg, 5.2apg and 1.2spg last season. Shved helped them to make it to the quarterfinals. Khimky-Podmoskovye Moscow Region (Superleague 1) re-signed 21-year old center Rodion Ardislamov (215-102kg-96). He played there last season. But in three Superleague 1 games he averaged just 1.3ppg.
