The Regular Season in Superlaegue just ended. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Universitet-Yugra (24-4) on the court of second ranked Ural Ekaterinburg on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Ural Ekaterinburg 66-58. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Universitet-Yugra. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 66-58. Ural Ekaterinburg shot 25 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Universitet-Yugra only scored eight points from the stripe. 30 personal fouls committed by Universitet-Yugra helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Chris Monroe (191-81, college: G.Washington) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Anton Glazunov (182-86) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Anton Ageev (192-84) with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Universitet-Yugra's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ural Ekaterinburg have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 22-6 record having just -17 point less than leader Univ.Surgut. Universitet-Yugra at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Novosybirsk (21-7) against fifth ranked Ruskon-Mordovia (17-11) on Friday night. Visiting Novosybirsk was defeated by Ruskon-Mordovia in a tough game in Saransk 105-112. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Novosybirsk. Guard Fedor Klyuchnikov (192-90) notched 30 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Alexander Varnakov supported him with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds by power forward Anton Sayapin (205-86) did not help to save the game for Novosybirsk. Novosybirsk's coach Sergei Kazarzhevsky tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Ruskon-Mordovia moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Novosybirsk keeps the third position with seven games lost.
Bottom-ranked Sojuz Zaretchny managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the ten-game losing streak on Friday night. This time they won against eleventh-ranked Volgograd 79-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Volgograd. The best player for the winners was Vyacheslav Sleta who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Artem Komissarov who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Volgograd's coach Andrey Laletin let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sojuz Zaretchny (5-23) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Spartak V. Loser Volgograd keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost.
The game in Revda was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Dynamo Moscow (15-12) played at the court of eighth ranked TEMP-SUMZ Revda (16-12). TEMP-SUMZ Revda managed to secure a 8-point victory 70-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dynamo Moscow. It was a good game for Vitaly Kuznetsov who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). TEMP-SUMZ Revda moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ataman and Avtodor. Newly promoted Dynamo Moscow dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost.
13th ranked Spartak Vidnoye (5-23) was outscored at home by ninth ranked AltajBasket (15-13) with the biggest margin this round 71-41 on Friday night. Dmitriy Ponosov scored 14 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Newly promoted AltajBasket maintains ninth position with 15-13 record. Spartak Vidnoye lost fourth consecutive game. Spartak Vidnoye at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth place with 23 games lost.

In the last two games of round 30 Avtodor won against Ataman on the opponent's court 73-68. Planeta-Univ. managed to outperform Severstal in a home game 77-69.


Sojuz Zaretchny - Volgograd 79-69

Bottom-ranked Sojuz Zaretchny managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the ten-game losing streak on Friday night. This time they won against eleventh-ranked Volgograd 79-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Volgograd. The game without a history. Sojuz Zaretchny led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was forward Vyacheslav Sleta (205-89) who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Denis Novikov (200-85) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Artem Komissarov (200-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and Ukrainian point guard Vitaly Boyko (183-82) added 11 points and 8 assists respectively. Volgograd's coach Andrey Laletin let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sojuz Zaretchny (5-23) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Spartak V. There was a minor upset in Rostov where one of their biggest challengers Ataman (16-12) was defeated by seventh ranked Avtodor (16-12) 73-68 on Friday. The guests trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 5 points. Avtodor dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Ataman's 18. They outrebounded Ataman 42-24 including a 33-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. American-Ukrainian guard Steven Burtt (185-84, college: Iona, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 31 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Aleksandr Zaykin (208-84) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Dmitriy Zagnoyko (192-85) with 21 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and guard Pavel Aleksandrov (196-89) scored 17 points. Ataman's coach Mikhail Karpenko tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Avtodor have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with TEMP-SUMZ and Ataman.

The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-17. But Dynamo Moscow won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TEMP-SUMZ Revda forced 19 Dynamo Moscow turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including 31 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for forward Vitaly Kuznetsov (196-88) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Power forward Aleksey Tsvetkov (207-84) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners.
