Ural wins Superleague title tonight. The team overcame Universitet-Yugra 55:54 and won the Final series 2-1.
The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 17-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Ural Ekaterinburg made 20-of-25 free shots during the game. Ural Ekaterinburg outrebounded Universitet-Yugra 45-28 including a 17-5 advantage in defensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Universitet-Yugra helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Semen Shashkov (205-F-89) who saved his team from a defeat with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Dmitri Nikolaev (200-F-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Linas Lekavicius (186-G-84, college: American) answered with 11 points and 9 rebounds and forward Denis Hloponin (206-F-81) added 10 points in the effort for Universitet-Yugra. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
In Game 1 Ural grabbed 74:72 victory but then fell short in Surgut. In Game 2 Univ.Surgut celebrated a 72:65 win to tie the records at 1-1.

Nizhny Novgorod extends contract with Zoran Lukic for 2 more years - May 23, 2013

3rd place Avtodor - Ataman 82-78 (2-0) The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 28-21 Ataman's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 82-78 at the end of the game. Unics will not renew contract with Stanislav Eremin - May 22, 2013

Unics announced their decision not to renew the contract of head coach Stanislav Eremin . The specialist took over the Kazan team in February. He replaced Aco Petrovic . However Unics finished in just the fifth position in PBL regular season. They also surrendered againt Lokomotiv Kuban at the quarterfinal stage of the VTB League.
