   #1. This week's number one is former U20 international guard Valeriya Musina (183-87, college: Lee, currently plays in Poland). She led CCC Polkowice to a victory over the eighth-ranked Widzew (3-15) 86-69 in the Polish PLKK in Tuesday night's game. Musina was MVP of the game. She scored 18 points and had 3 steals (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line) in a mere 19 minutes on the court. CCC Polkowice (17-1) is placed first in the PLKK. It was her team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. Musina has relatively good stats this year: 12.0ppg, 2.7rpg, 2.1apg, 1.9spg, 2FGP: 50.6%, 3FGP: 37.5% and FT: 73.2% in the 16 games she played so far. She played for the Russian U20 national team six years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Irina Osipova (196-81, currently plays in Turkey). She contributed to an easy victory against the 11th-ranked Canik Bld (9-15) crushing them 91-63 in the Turkish TKBL on Saturday night. Osipova scored 14 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 28 minutes. Istanbul Universitesi SK (14-10) is placed sixth in the TKBL. It was her team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Osipova's first season with the team. Osipova belongs to league's best rebounders (ranked #7) and also on the list of best blockers (fifth place). She has very reliable stats this year: 11.1ppg, 8.6rpg, 2.2apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 51.2% and FT: 81.8% in the 24 games. Osipova is in the roster of the Russian senior national team.

   #3. The Russian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U21 international power forward Jelena Reshetko (184-86, currently plays in Finland). She was the major contributor in a Catz Lappeenranta's victory against the closely-ranked BC Nokia (12-10) crushing them 108-65 in the Finnish SM-sarja in Saturday night's game. Reshetko scored 18 points, had 9 boards, passed 4 assists and added 5 steals. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Catz Lappeenranta (27-2) is placed first in the SM-sarja. It was her team's 15th consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Reshetko is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her eighth year in Catz Lappeenranta's roster. She has individually a very good season with high stats. Reshetko averages: 16.7ppg, 9.7rpg, 2.0apg, 1.2bpg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 62.1%(180-290) and FT: 78.0%. She played for the Russian U21 national team six years ago.

Power forward Ksenia Tikhonenko (193-93, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov, currently plays in Romania) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Timisoara (18-9) crushing them 93-55 in the Romanian Liga Nationala last Saturday. Tikhonenko scored 9 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 26 minutes. CSM Targoviste (23-1) is placed second in the Liga Nationala. It was her team's 17th consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Tikhonenko's overall stats are: 7.9ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.4apg in the 22 games. She has a dual citizenship: Russian and Kazakhstan. Tikhonenko is also Russian U20 national team player.

Former international center Oksana Zakalyuzhnaya (198-77, currently plays in Turkey) contributed to a 2-point Mersin's victory against the ninth-ranked Botas (10-14) 79-77 in the Turkish TKBL in Sunday night's game. Zakalyuzhnaya scored 7 points. Mersin BSH Bld (19-5) is placed fourth in the TKBL. It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. Zakalyuzhnaya's total stats this season are: 7.0ppg and 3.9rpg. She used to play for the Russian national team seven years ago.

   #6. Shooting guard Maria Myasnikova (175-92, currently plays in Belarus), who plays in the Belarusian Premier League could not help Victoria-UOR (7-11) to beat Gorizont (12-6). Myasnikova cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. She recorded only 3 points. The second-placed Victoria-UOR was crushed 91-69 on the road by the lower-ranked Gorizont (#3) in the Group B. This season Myasnikova averages just 4.5ppg. She is U20 international player who is currently on the Russian National Team roster.


The list of other players, who all have Russian passport but never been selected to any of Russian national teams:

   #1. Anna Sokolan (178-G-84, currently plays in Bulgaria), who plays in the Bulgarian NBL could not help Neftochimic (19-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Sokolan's very good performance the league leader Neftochimic was defeated 93-89 on the road by the second-ranked Dunav 8806. She was the second best scorer with 19 points. Sokolan also added 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Sokolan's seventh season with the team. This year she has relatively solid stats: 10.6ppg, 3.3rpg and 2.0apg. Sokolan has a dual citizenship: Ukrainian and Russian.

   #2. Experienced Elena Vishnyakova (191-F-78, college: G.Washington, currently plays in France), who plays in the French LF2 (12th division) was not able to help Laveyron (9-11) in their last game on Saturday. Despite her very good performance Laveyron was edged 69-66 at home by the higher-ranked SIG (#7). Vishnyakova recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 12 rebounds. She also added 3 assists. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. Vishnyakova is currently second on the league's list of best rebounders. This season she has very good stats: 12.6ppg, 10.4rpg, 1.5apg and 1.6spg. Vishnyakova is another player who holds two passports: Russian and French.

   #3. Olga Fedorova (189-C-78, currently plays in Spain) led Arxil Pontevedra to a victory over the seventh-ranked Oviedo (8-10) 65-51 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) in Saturday night's game. She was the best player in that game. Fedorova had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 18 rebounds. She also added and 3 steals in 30 minutes. C.B. Arxil Pontevedra (2-17) is placed 11th in Group A. Fedorova's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Fedorova is currently seventh on the league's list of best rebounders with 9.4rpg. She also averaged so far 15.5ppg, 1.4apg and 1.9spg in the 18 games she played so far.

   #4. Ekaterina Abramzon (185-F-87, currently plays in Romania) contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Rapid (6-20) 90-73 in the Romanian Liga Nationala last Sunday. Abramzon scored 7 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished 3 assists. CSU Alba Iulia (17-8) is placed fifth in the Liga Nationala. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. Abramzon's total stats this season are: 8.2ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.1apg and 1.4spg. She has both Russian and Israeli nationalities.

   #5. Ludmila Tymkova (190-C-89, currently plays in Ukraine), who plays in the Ukrainian Higher League (12th division) was not able to secure a victory for BK Frankivsk-Halichina (1-25) in their last game. Despite Tymkova's very good performance the bottom-ranked BK Frankivsk-Halichina was badly defeated 76-59 in Bar by the higher-ranked (#4) Regina-Basket. She was the top scorer with 15 points. Tymkova also added 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 34 minutes. It was BK Frankivsk-Halichina's seventh consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. Tymkova is currently fourth on the list of best blockers with 0.9bpg. This year her other stats are: 8.3ppg and 5.9rpg in the 26 games.

   #6. Tatiana Shapochkina (179-G-85, currently plays in Baltic League) was the major contributor in a Olimpia GrGAU's victory against the fourth-ranked Victoria-UOR crushing them 101-64 in a derby game in the Baltic League last Sunday. Shapochkina scored 18 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 28 minutes. This year Shapochkina has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.8apg and 1.8spg in the four games. She also holds two passports: Ukrainian and Russian.

   #7. Viktoriya Pomadina (188-F-91, currently plays in Slovenia) couldn't help Jezica in their game against Ilrija in the Slovenian SKL. Pomadina recorded only 4 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Her team was defeated 67-59. Pomadina is ranked first on the list of the best blockers in the league. Her total stats this season are: 3.0ppg and 5.1rpg.

   #8. Lyubov Alyoshkina (203-C-81, currently plays in Baltic League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Tatiana Shapochkina and both played together in the last Baltic League game. Alyoshkina contributed to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Victoria-UOR crushing them 101-64 in a derby game. She scored 16 points, had 8 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 27 minutes. This year Alyoshkina has relatively solid stats: 14.0ppg, 9.6rpg and 1.2apg in the five games. She has dual citizenship: Russian and Ukrainian.

   #9. Aleksandra Khomenchuk (202-C-89, currently plays in Belarus) contributed to an easy victory against the second-ranked Victoria-UOR crushing them 91-69 in the Belarusian Premier League last Saturday. Khomenchuk recorded 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Khomenchuk belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #2. This season she has very good stats: 10.6ppg, 9.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.3spg. Khomenchuk holds both Russian and Ukrainian passports.

   #10. Irina Mihailova (191-F-81, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help Northland in their game against Norrkoping Dolphins in the Swedish Damligan. She cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Mihailova scored only 2 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 24 minutes. Her team lost 61-70. This year Mihailova's total stats are: 7.7ppg, 4.7rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg in the nine games. She has Moldovan and Russian nationalities.

Olaf Lange has been appointed the new head coach of the Russian National Team. The German specialist will replace Alexander Vasin at helm. Olaf Lange is not new to Russia. He has been working with UMMC since 2012. Lange guided the team to two Euroleague and five Russian PBL titles. He was named All-EuroLeague Coach of the Year in 2013. Olaf Lange also worked as assistant coach with the Australian National Team.   [read more]

Nadezhda Orenburg (PBL) re-signed 21-year old international center Zhosselina Maiga (193-83kg-96). She has played there for the last three seasons. In 26 PBL games she averaged 7.3ppg and 4.5rpg last season. Maiga helped them to make it to the semifinals. She also played 6 games in Euroleague where she had 3.8ppg and 2.7rpg. Nadezhda Orenburg (PBL) signed 24-year old Russian international power forward Ksenia Tikhonenko (192-93, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov). She is a dual citizen owning also Kazakhstan passport. Tikhonenko has played for the last two seasons at Dynamo Moscow in the PBL. In 23 games she had 9.9ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg last season. She helped them to make it to the semifinals.
