26-year old center Tatiana Vidmer (191-C-86) had a very impressive game in the last round for Dynamo M. and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 20. She had a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds, while her team beat Dynamo-GUVD (#9, 5-13) 77-71. Dynamo M. is placed at 4th position in Russian PBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Dynamo M. will need more victories to improve their 12-6 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Vidmer as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Vidmer has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 8.0rpg) and averages solid 1.1bpg.
Second best performed player last round was Nadezhda Grishaeva (195-C-89). She is international center in her first season at Dynamo M.. In the last game Grishaeva recorded impressive 22 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. It was enough for Dynamo M. to edge the lower-ranked Dynamo-GUVD (#9, 5-13) by 6 points 77-71. This victory allowed Dynamo M. to move up to 4th position in the standings. Her team's 12-6 record is not bad at all. Grishaeva is a newcomer at Dynamo M. and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Glory Johnson (191-F-90) of Chevakata (#6). Johnson scored 18 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Chevakata, leading her team to a 69-49 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Spartak N. (#8, 5-13). The chances of Chevakata not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Johnson could try to bring Chevakata's a little bit higher in the standings. Johnson has individually a great season in Russia. After 17 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.0ppg (3rd best), rebounds with 11.0rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 1.1apg (best passer).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Kara Braxton (198-C-83) of Nadezhda O. - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists 5. Candace Parker (193-C-86) of UMMC - 16 points and 11 rebounds 6. Seimone Augustus (183-SF-84) of Spartak V MR - 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists 7. Epiphanny Prince (175-G-88) of Dynamo K. - 26 points and 2 assists 8. Ilona Korstin (183-SG-80) of Dynamo M. - 12 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Natalia Vieru (196-C-89) of Spartak V MR - 17 points and 10 rebounds 10. Natalia Myasoedova (196-C-87) of Dynamo-GUVD - 18 points and 11 rebounds
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
