Here is the weekly review of the top performing Scottish players, who play currently abroad.

Alasdair Fraser
Alasdair Fraser
#1. This week's number one is former U18 international forward Alasdair Fraser (201-92, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA. He could not help the Maine (3-7) in their last game. Despite Fraser's very good performance the Maine lost 72-79 on the road to the Boston University. He scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 34 minutes on the court. It was Maine's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Fraser played for the Scottish U18 national team three years ago.

Gareth Murray
Gareth Murray
#2. Second place goes to an international forward Gareth Murray (201-84, agency: Prossin Sports Management, college: Kalamazoo Valley CC, currently plays in United Kingdom). He contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Cheshire Phoenix (8-15) 87-69 in the British BBL last Friday. Murray recorded 10 points and added 5 passes. Glasgow Rocks (14-8) is placed fifth in the BBL. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Murray has relatively good stats this season: 13.2ppg, 6.1rpg, 3.4apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 52.2%, 3FGP: 34.4% and FT: 89.3%. He is in the roster of the Scottish senior national team.

Kieron Achara
Kieron Achara
#3. The Scottish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward Kieron Achara (208-83, agency: Two Points, college: Duquesne, currently plays in Greece). Achara managed to help Enosi Kalathosfairisis Kavalas in a 2-point victoryagainst the league outsider Panelefsiniakos (3-13) 68-66 in the Greek A1 on Saturday night. He scored 5 points, had 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 29 minutes. Enosi Kalathosfairisis Kavalas (4-12) is placed second from the bottom (#13) in the A1. This year Achara averages: 8.0ppg, 3.8rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 61.1%(11-18) and FT: 71.4% in the six games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Scottish and Nigerian. Achara played for the Scottish national team eight years ago.

Dale Grieve
Dale Grieve
#4. Guard Dale Grieve (190-92, currently plays in United Kingdom) is a teammate of previously mentioned Gareth Murray. But that was another game of his team in British BBL which we would like to mention. Grieve contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Liverpool Mersey Tigers (0-22) crushing them 97-58. He scored only 3 points in 5 minutes on the court. Glasgow Rocks (14-8) is placed fifth in the BBL. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. This year Grieve averages just 1.4ppg in the seven games. He used to play for the Scottish U18 national team back in 2010.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Scottish passport:

#1. Alex Marcotullio (190-G-91, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Northwestern University to win against the Purdue University (5-5) 75-60 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. He scored only 2 points, had 5 boards, handed out 5 passes and blocked 2 shots. The Northwestern University has 4-5 conference record this season. It's Marcotullio's fourth year with the team. Marcotullio's overall stats this year are: 8.0ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.2apg. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Marcotullio has never played in Scotland.

Other top Scottish players, who play abroad:

Kyle Haldane (185-G-92) plays for Northumbria in British EBL D1
Taulant Murati (180-PG-92) plays for SAM Massagno in Swiss LNA
John Tehan (185-G-71) plays for St.Mary's in Irish Division 1
Keegan Dunlop (211-F-93) plays for Simon Fraser University in GNAC

Fury extinguish Blaze to complete SBC Triple Crown - 1 month ago
The final game and main event of Day 2 of our last event of the season, the SBC Playoff Finals, was our Senior Men's Playoff Final between the League and Cup Champions Sony Centre Fury, and last years League and Playoff Champions Boroughmuir Blaze. It was Blaze who drew first blood in this one, taking a quick 5-0 lead in the game. It wasn't to last for long though as Fury quickly reversed the lead and before we knew it these teams began to trade basket for basket running up the score in a...   [read more]

Fury storm out of Mariner and on to Playoff Finals - 2 months ago
We headed to the Mariner Centre for one last time on Friday night for a Playoff Semi-Final between Sony Centre Fury and Glasgow Storm. With a Finals spot up for grabs, there was plenty at stake for both teams. Storm showed some nerves in the first quarter, getting off to a really slow start. Falkirk were able to capitalise on this with Keith Bunyan (191-G-77) lighting up behind the arc. Fury worked the ball well as a team and made Glasgow Storm work for extended periods on the defensive e...   [read more]
