Russia stun Serbia, tie both records at 1-1 at the U19 World Championship. The Russian side needed a 73:51 win in Day 2 to celebrate the initial victory.
Serbia started better and reached 21:17 lead at the end of the first period. Russia however dominated the rest of the game and won the rest of the quarters. Russia replied with an 18-9 surge in the second frame and reached 35:28 halftime advantage. Russia also added 25-12 burst in the third period and won the last stanza 13-9.
Anna Shchetina (195-C-95) top-scored for the winners with 21 points and Yuliya Gladkova (185-F-94) as well as Alexandra Marchenkova (183-PF-94) netted 16 each. Olga Novikova (179-G-94) posted 10 points in the winning effort. Kristina Topuzovic (182-G/F-94) brought 13 points in defeat and Natasa Kovacevic (187-F-94, agency: Interperformances) scored 11. MANDIC ended up with 8 points in defeat and Aleksandra Stanacev (167-PG-94) had 7.
