Inter Bratislava victoriously opened their series versus Banska Bystrica. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But SKP Banska Bystrica won third quarter 25-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Inter Bratislava made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international power forward Martin Rancik (204-78, college: Iowa St.) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American forward Alando Tucker (198-84, college: Wisconsin, agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 22 points. At the losing side American point guard Enique Clemons (180-80, college: Missouri) responded with 20 points and 5 assists and the former international power forward Peter Dorazil (199-89) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. SKP Banska Bystrica's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.

Nitra outmuscled Svit in the series opener at home court. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Patrick Sparks (184-83, college: Kentucky, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 assists for the winners and point guard Deremy Geiger (180-90, college: Idaho) chipped in 25 points. At the losing side guard Ravone George (193-83, college: Alabama) responded with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and center Tyronne McNeal (211-87, college: Miami Dade CC) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Komarno - Handlova 93-62

Komarno cruised to the first win versus Handlova. The game was mostly controlled by Komarno. Handlova managed to win third quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game, while Handlova only scored ten points from the stripe. They outrebounded Handlova 38-27 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Handlova helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Kevin Thompson (205-89, college: Morgan St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and guard Vincent Simpson (185-88, college: Hampton, agency: R.H.Consultancy) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Five Komarno players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Zack Crimmins (213-89, college: Columbia) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Kevin Bridgewaters (179-84, college: Chattanooga) scored 16 points and 7 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Nova Ves stormed past Prievidza in the first game. The game without a history. Nova Ves led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners and American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) chipped in 19 points and 10 assists. Five Nova Ves players scored in double figures. At the losing side international Michal Batka (204-87) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Dijuan Harris (175-86, college: Charlotte) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Prievidza's coach Krunoslav Krajnovic rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win.

MBK Handlova (SBL) signed 29-year old Serbian center Bojan Stanojevic (203-88). It is actually his comeback to MBK Handlova as he has played here before. Stanojevic played last season at Mladost in Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I. In 25 games he had 14.3ppg, 7.6rpg (#5 in the league) and 2.7apg. Newly promoted MBK ZU Zilina (SBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 24-year old American center Brandon Holcomb (201-98kg-93, college: Radford). He played most recently at Fondi Oasi in Italian Serie C Gold. In 21 games he recorded 13.6ppg and 1.8apg last season.
