Danijel Vujasinovic (180-G-89) put on an amazing game in the last round for Polzela and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17. The 23-year old guard got a double-double of 13 points and fifteen assists, while his team beat Helios (#1, 12-5) 81-74. Polzela maintains the 9th position in Slovenian Telemach League. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Polzela have already lost 13 games and recorded just four victories. It was one of impressive evenings for Vujasinovic as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Danijel Vujasinovic averages this season 11.3ppg, 5.8rpg and 7.1apg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Polzela's star - 23-year old American power forward Isiah Martin (203-F/C-89). Martin impressed basketball fans with 20 points and 4 rebounds. Of course Polzela cruised to a 81-74 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Helios (#1, 12-5). Polzela's 9th position in the standings has not changed. 13 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Polzela managed to get this year. Martin is a newcomer at Polzela and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was former international guard Jure Mocnik (185-PG-85) of top-ranked Helios. Mocnik showcased his all-around game by recording 10 points, six rebounds and ten assists (!!!) in the last round. Despite Mocnik's great performance Helios lost 74-81 to the lower-ranked Polzela (#9, 4-13). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Helios needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 12 victories and 5 lost games. Mocnik has a great season in Slovenia. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.7apg (3rd best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Boban Tomic (190-G-88) of Rogaska - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Robert Abramovic (185-G-88) of LTHcast Mercator - 26 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Emir Zimic (215-C-86) of Tajfun - 3 points and 16 rebounds 7. Dejan Mlakar (192-G-88) of Geoplin Slovan - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists 8. Mensud Julevic (200-PF-85) of Elektra - 15 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Ante Djugum (211-C-88) of Zlatorog - 13 points and 9 rebounds 10. Luka Voncina (193-G-91) of LTHcast Mercator - 15 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
