Here is the weekly review of the top performing Slovenian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international center Mirza Begic (217-85, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked CAI Zaragoza (21-13) crushing them 93-65 in the Spanish ACB in Saturday night's game. Begic scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 18 minutes on the court. Real Madrid (30-4) is placed first in the ACB. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. This year Begic averages: 5.7ppg, 3.0rpg, 2FGP: 58.6%(89-152) and FT: 71.4% in the 39 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian. Former Triglav Kranj starter played for the Slovenian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Erazem Lorbek (209-84, college: Michigan St., currently plays in Spain). Lorbek contributed to a Regal FC Barcelona's victory against the seventh-ranked G.Canaria 2014 (19-15) 77-73 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. He scored 9 points. Regal FC Barcelona (23-11) is placed third in the ACB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Lorbek's fourth season with the team. Lorbek has relatively good stats this year: 10.2ppg, 3.4rpg, 2FGP: 59.5%(128-215), 3FGP: 31.7% and FT: 76.1%. He played for the Slovenian national team in 2011.

   #3. The Slovenian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international power forward Bostjan Nachbar (207-80, currently plays in Germany). Nachbar helped Brose Baskets Bamberg win their game against the closely-ranked Bayern Muenchen (21-13) 85-66 in the German BBL on Thursday night. He scored 8 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 21 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Brose Baskets Bamberg (26-8) is placed first in the BBL. This year Nachbar has relatively solid stats: 13.5ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.0apg, 2FGP: 49.3%, 3FGP: 36.3% and FT: 84.3% in the 42 games. He played for the Slovenian national team three years ago.

Forward Dragisa Drobnjak (200-77, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Belgium) helped Base Oostende win their game against the closely-ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (18-10) crushing them 88-57 in the Belgian Ethias League in Saturday night's game. Drobnjak recorded 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Telenet Oostende (20-8) is placed first in the Ethias League. Drobnjak's overall stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.8apg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2008.

Slokar, who plays in the Spanish ACB could not help G.Canaria 2014 (19-15) to beat Regal FC Barcelona (23-11). He scored 7 points in only 14 minutes. G.Canaria 2014 lost 73-77 on the road to the higher-ranked (#3) Regal FC Barcelona. It's Slokar's first season with the team. This year Slokar's overall stats are: 4.3ppg and 2.6rpg in the 31 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #6. Center Jusuf Nurkic (212-94, currently plays in Croatia) was not able to help KK Zadar (11-3) in their game against Cibona (12-2) in the Croatian A1. Nurkic scored 6 points. The third-placed KK Zadar was badly defeated 92-76 in Zagreb by the leading Cibona in the Places 1-8 group. Nurkic is ranked fifth on the list of the best blockers in the league. His total stats this season are: 8.1ppg and 4.4rpg. Nurkic is a former U16 international player as he played for the Slovenian team three years ago.

Energa Czarni Slupsk (PLK) signed 24-year old American forward Stephen Hurt (211-120kg-93, college: Kansas State). He played last season at Hopsi Polzela in Slovenian Liga Nova KBM. In 14 games he had 9.6ppg and 4.1rpg. Hurt helped them to make it to the Slovenian Cup Semifinals. He also played that season for Lapuan_Korikobrat in Finnish Korisliiga where in 9 games he recorded 6.7ppg and 4.1rpg. Hurt was voted All-A-Sun Freshman of the Year back in 2013 at his college time. Zlatorog improved their roster for the 2017-18 season by inking Montenegrin Petar Kusovac (195-F-93) on a one-year deal. It will be his first season abroad.
