Thirteenth-ranked UCAM Murcia (12-20) made lots of trouble for second ranked Caja Laboral (25-7) in Vitoria on Sunday. Caja Laboral managed to secure only three-point victory 98-95. However their fans expected much easier game. UCAM Murcia was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 29-23 charge of Caja Laboral, which allowed them to win the game. They made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by UCAM Murcia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Italian-Argentinian Andres Nocioni (199-79) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. Serbian power forward Nemanja Bjelica (209-88, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Asefa Estudiantes at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 18 games lost. Real Madrid will play against FIATC Joventut (#11) in Badalona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Asefa Estudiantes will play on the road against the league's second-placed Caja Laboral in Vitoria and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Bilbao was also quite interesting. Second ranked Caja Laboral (25-7) played at the court of 5th ranked Gescrap BB (19-13). Caja Laboral did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 93-75 on Wednesday. Worth to mention a great performance of Maciej Lampe who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds. Lamont Hamilton responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Caja Laboral have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 25-7 record having just three points less than leader Real Madrid. Loser Gescrap BB keeps the fifth place with 13 games lost. Cajasol was outscored by Gescrap BB in a home game 60-81. Blancos de R. recorded a loss to Valencia on the road 93-86. Blusens M. was defeated by Unicaja on its own court 65-69.
