Spain celebrated the sixth straight win at the 2013 EuroBasket. They held off Turkey in the battle of two undefeated teams. Spain thus clinched the top position in Group E, while Turkey finished second. Spain will now take on Czech Republic, while Turkey will face Belarus in the quarterfinals.
Spain held Turkey to 10 points in the opening quarter to take a 5-point lead. Turkey continued to struggle offensively in the second frame. Spain ran away to a 32:17 halftime advantage. But Ceyhun Yidizoglu team was not done just yet. They went on a 21:11 run in the third term to narrow the gap at 5-point mark 38:43 heading into the fourth frame. But Spain tipped off the final period with ten straight points and never looked back en route to the win. Sancho Lyttle (192-C-83, college: Houston) provided 18 points and 13 rebounds for Spain. Alba Torrens (188-F-89) added 12 points, while Silvia Dominguez (166-PG-87) and Marta Xargay Casademont (181-PG-90, agency: Josep and Nicolas) had 11 points each in the win. Esmeral Tuncluer (175-G-80), Isil Alben (170-G-86, agency: 1x1 Sports), Nevriye Yilmaz (194-C-80) and Quanitra Hollingsworth (196-C-88, college: VCU) netted 8 points each in the loss.

Mann Filter Zaragoza (LFB) agreed terms with 32-year old Paraguayan swingman Paola Ferrari (178-73kg-85, agency: ProDep Management). It is actually her comeback to Zaragoza as she has played here before. Ferrari is a dual citizen owning also Italian passport. She started the season at IDK Gipuzkoa Universidad del Pais Vasco in the LFB. In 19 games she had very impressive stats: 15.8ppg, 4.0rpg, 5.2apg and 2.5spg this season. Mann Filter Zaragoza (LFB) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old guard Gabriela Ocete (170-88, agency: ProDep Management). It is actually her comeback to Zaragoza as she has played here before. Ocete She started the season at IDK Gipuzkoa Universidad del Pais Vasco in the LFB. In 28 games she recorded 8.0ppg, 2.9rpg, 4.5apg and 1.3spg this season. Ocete helped them to make it to the Supercup final. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of Leganes (1-2) to Sant Adria (3-0) 57-55 on Saturday evening.
