Thomas
Kelati
31-year old Polish international swingman Thomas Kelati (195-91kg-82, college: Washington State, agency: Beo Basket) left Valencia Basket (ACB). He is a dual citizen owning also Eritrean passport. In 29 ACB games he had 10.6ppg, 2.8rpg and 1.8apg this season. He helped them to make it to the final and supercup semifinals. Kelati also played 13 games in Eurocup where he recorded 9.8ppg, 2.2rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg.
The last season he played at Khimky (PBL) in Russian league. The team played in four different competitions (!!!) that year, and Kelati had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In 20 PBL games he recorded 5.3ppg, 2.1rpg, 1.2apg and 1.0spg. He contributed to his team making it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team. Kelati also played 2 games in Euroleague where he recorded 8.0ppg, 6.5rpg, 4.0apg and 2.5spg. He also played 15 games in Eurocup where he recorded 9.7ppg, 2.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.1spg. He contributed to his team winning the Eurocup championship. And finally Kelati played 16 games in VTB United League where he recorded 8.1ppg, 2.6rpg, 1.4apg and 1.2spg (in top 5). He contributed to his team making it to the quarterfinals.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as Kelati was voted Eurobasket.com All-European Championships Honorable Mention in 2011. He also represented Poland at the European Championships in Lithuania two years ago. His stats at that event were 5 games: 13.4ppg, 3.8rpg, 3.2apg, Steals-5 (2.0spg), FGP: 58.3%, 3PT: 32.0%, FT: 88.2%.
Kelati is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Belgium (Belfius Mons-Hainaut), Greece (Olympiacos), NBA (LA Lakers), Poland (PGE Turow).
Kelati attended Washington State until 2005 and it is his eighth season as a professional player.
On Kelati: A swingman who improved in each of his seasons overseas, becoming ACB material. Has a very quick and effective first step, that allows him to beat almost anyone. Long arms and timing make him a very good rebounder for his size. Defense is adequate both on the 2 and 3, but has the athletic skills to improve it too.
