There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LEB Gold.

LEB Gold top team - River Andorra (21-3) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat seventh ranked FCB Regal II (10-14) 74-61. The game was mostly controlled by River Andorra. FCB Regal II managed to win third quarter 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. River Andorra forced 20 FCB Regal II turnovers. Worth to mention a quality performance of naturalized Russian power forward Dmitry Flis (203-84) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and forward Marc Blanch (194-82) who added 10 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was British-Swedish Nick Spires (209-94) with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted River Andorra maintains first position with 21-3 record. FCB Regal II at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh place with 14 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. River Andorra is looking forward to face Lleida Basquet (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. FCB Regal II will play against the league's second-placed Ford Burgos and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
The game in Lugo was also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers Palencia Baloncesto (14-10) played at the court of fifth ranked Leche Rio Breogan (13-11). Leche Rio Breogan managed to secure a 5-point victory 69-64. The winners were led by Senegalese center Michel Diouf (208-89) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks and Anthony Winchester supported him with 16 points and 4 steals. Leche Rio Breogan's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) did not help to save the game for Palencia Baloncesto. Leche Rio Breogan maintains fifth position with 13-11 record. Palencia Baloncesto at the other side keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Leche Rio Breogan will play against Caceres Basket (#8) on the road in the next round. Palencia Baloncesto will play against Meridiano Alicante (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The best player for the winners was Taylor Coppenrath who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Meridiano Alicante's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Ondrej Starosta who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Meridiano Alicante have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-7 record having four points less than leader Andorra. Loser Planasa NV keeps the eleventh place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Coruna. Meridiano Alicante will meet Palencia Baloncesto (#4) on the road in the next round. Planasa NV will play against Melilla Baloncesto (#14) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 24: Clavijo lost to A.Ford Burgos on the opponent's court 72-87. Lobe Huesca unfortunately lost to Caceres in a home game 69-73. Coruna managed to beat Melilla on the road 80-75. Ourense was defeated by Forca Lleida on its own court 72-77.


Lucentum - Planasa NV 84-62

Third ranked Meridiano Alicante (17-7) crushed at home 11th ranked Planasa NV (9-15) by 22 points 84-62, which is the biggest margin this round on Sunday night. The game without a history. Meridiano Alicante led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was American forward Taylor Coppenrath (205-81, college: Vermont) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Alex Llorca (192-89) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Meridiano Alicante's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Czech center Ondrej Starosta (215-79) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Stu Douglass (190-90, college: Michigan) added 8 points and 6 assists respectively. Meridiano Alicante have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-7 record having four points less than leader Andorra. Loser Planasa NV keeps the eleventh place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Coruna. Meridiano Alicante will meet Palencia Baloncesto (#4) on the road in the next round. Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Lleida Basquet (11-13) beat on the road 12th ranked Ourense (8-16) 77-72 on Friday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 28-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was forward Miguel Feliu (200-85) who scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. American-Italian power forward Dominic Calegari (208-87, college: Cal-Davis) chipped in 14 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Nick Barbour (190-89, college: High Point) who recorded 17 points and power forward Javier Mugica (200-83) added 16 points respectively. Ourense's coach Rafael Sanz tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lleida Basquet maintains sixth position with 11-13 record. Ourense lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth place with 16 games lost. Lleida Basquet will meet league's leader River Andorra on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ourense will play against Leyma Basquet (#11) in Coruna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
