Pais Vasco - Ferrol 79-72

Pais Vasco celebrated the first win in the quarterfinal stage. They held off Ferrol for 1-0 record in Group 2. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 28-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Pais Vasco especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds and 15 assists for the winners. American center Stephanie Madden (185-88, college: Langston) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Four Pais Vasco players scored in double figures. Forward Raquel Asensio (178-83) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Olivia Lett (182-90, college: Illinois Wesleyan) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Universitario de Ferrol's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.

Al-Qazeres toppled Aros Leon in the opener. Aros Leon was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 22-11 third quarter run of Al-Qazeres. They also forced 19 Aros Leon turnovers. Center Alejandra De La Fuente (192-88) nailed 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and American Ndidi Madu (185-89, college: Florida) accounted for 14 points and 9 rebounds. point guard Natalia Lopez (171-93) came up with 19 points and Teresa Lopez Perez added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Aros Leon in the defeat.

Casablance shot down Real Canoe for the first win in Group 1. The game was mostly controlled by Casablanca. Real Canoe was better in third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Casablanca forced 21 Real Canoe turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Paula Palomares (170-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds. Carolina Esparcia (178-95) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Center Monica Garrido (185-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Senegalese power forward Awa Doumbia (184-79) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Real Canoe. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Orion-GDKO bettered Ensino to tip off the quarterfinal stage. The game was mostly controlled by Orion-GDKO. Maquinaria Ensino managed to win second period 9-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Orion-GDKO forced 22 Maquinaria Ensino turnovers. American forward Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and center Ana Roman (192-82) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and the former international forward Mireia Navarrete (184-80) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Maquinaria Ensino's coach tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win.

Among other achievements Molina-Prados' team won Spanish LF2 Group A Regular Season in 2015. She received also Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LF2 1st Team award in 2015. ADB Araski Arabako Emakumeen Saskibaloia (LFB) landed 19-year old center Umo Diallo (192-98) from Campus Promete. But in 9 LFB games she averaged just 1.9ppg and 1.1rpg last season. Part of previous (2015-16) season Diallo spent at Sant Adria (LF2) where in 10 games she had 5.3ppg and 2.7rpg. She helped them to make it to the final. Campus Promete Logrono (LFB) re-signed 31-year old American power forward Leslie Knight (184-86). She has played there for the last three seasons.
