The Regular Season in LF2 just ended. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most important game in the last round took place in Ferrol between third ranked Universitario de Ferrol (14-6) and fourth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (13-7) on Saturday night. Universitario de Ferrol was defeated by Maquinaria Ensino in a tough game at home 66-74. The game without a history. Maquinaria Ensino led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Maquinaria Ensino forced 23 Universitario de Ferrol turnovers. The former international forward Mireia Navarrete (184-80) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Nerea Mendez (180-87) chipped in 17 points and 4 steals during the contest. At the losing side American forward Kate Mills (185-86, college: Massachusetts) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maquinaria Ensino have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position in Group A with 13-7 record. Universitario de Ferrol at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Madrid. One of their biggest challengers host Real Canoe (14-8) lost to second ranked Casablanca (18-4) 62-56. Power forward Isabel Perez (188-90) notched 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Marta Garcia supported her with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 7 points and 11 rebounds by forward Marta Blanes (184-77, agency: Josep and Nicolas) did not help to save the game for Real Canoe. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Casablanca have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group B with 18-4 record behind leader Pais Vasco. Real Canoe at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. They share the position with Orion-GDKO.
LF2 top team - Cortegada (17-3) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Oviedo (8-12) 67-54. Maria Ylenia Manzanares fired 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Ines Orselli produced 15 points for lost side. Oviedo's coach Ruben Alonso rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cortegada have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A with 17-3 record. Oviedo lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost.
LF2 top team - Pais Vasco (19-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat twelfth ranked Las Rozas (4-18) 73-56. Worth to mention a great performance of Maria Gomez who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 6 rebounds. Las Rozas' coach Jose Vicente let to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Pais Vasco have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 19-3 record. Las Rozas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 18 games lost.
The game in Alcobendas was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Orion-GDKO (14-8) played at the court of 5th ranked Fundal Alcobendas (12-10). Orion-GDKO managed to secure a 6-point victory 72-66 on Saturday. Margaret Roundtree scored 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Fundal Alcobendas' coach gave the chance to play for eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Orion-GDKO have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Real Canoe. Fundal Alcobendas lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with ten games lost.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 22:
In Group A Aros Leon lost to Valladolid on the opponent's court 47-49. Ourense P. managed to outperform ADBA in a home game 76-72. Al-Qazeres managed to beat Arxil Pontev. on the road 59-54.
In Group B Gernika crushed Leganes on its own court 60-38. Las Gaunas beat Segle XXI in Logrono 70-65. Asefa Estud. won against Tenerife at home 77-59.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 32 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by Maria Bolonio of Ourense P..

Group A
Oviedo - Cortegada 54-67

LF2 top team - Cortegada (17-3) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Oviedo (8-12) 67-54. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 25-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Guard Maria Ylenia Manzanares (175-83) fired 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Guard Montserrat Gilabert (172-80) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Cortegada players scored in double figures. Ines Orselli (-93) produced 15 points and Miriam Diaz Requejo (-87) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Valladolid - Aros Leon 49-47

There was an upset when higher ranked Aros Leon (9-11) was edged on the road by tenth ranked Universidad de Valladolid (7-13) 49-47 on Saturday. Aros Leon was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 16-13 charge of Universidad de Valladolid, which allowed them to win the game. Guard Paula Vicente (175-96) scored 15 points to lead the charge for the winners and center Maria Parro (183-85) chipped in 5 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Patricia Benet-edo responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Maria Garcia (185-85) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Universidad de Valladolid moved-up to eighth place in Group A, which they share with ADBA and Ourense P. Aros Leon lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 11 games lost.

Ourense P. - ADBA 76-72

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when ninth ranked Pabellon Ourense (7-13) defeated at home 8th ranked ADBA (7-13) 76-72 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But ADBA won third quarter 23-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely ADBA outrebounded Pabellon Ourense 44-28 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) scored 32 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Arantxa Mallou (181-91) chipped in 12 points during the contest. Pabellon Ourense's coach Gonzalo Gonzalez used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Portuguese power forward Debora Escorcio (186-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Amina Njonkou (185-88, college: Arizona) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Pabellon Ourense moved-up to eighth place in Group A, which they share with ADBA and Valladolid.

At the losing side point guard Carla Fernandez (168-89) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian center Zara Huntley (188-89) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Las Rozas to just 5 points in first quarter. Pais Vasco made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Las Rozas 45-26 including 33 on the defensive glass. No shocking result in a game in Madrid where seventh ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (11-11) won against 11th ranked Tenerife (6-16) 77-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by ASEFA Estudiantes. Tenerife was better in second period 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ASEFA Estudiantes forced 22 Tenerife turnovers. Guard Elena De Alfredo (170-94) scored 14 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Irene San Roman (177-92) chipped in 23 points during the contest. ASEFA Estudiantes' coach Diego Rubio used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Lithuanian forward Dovile Miliauskaite (187-89, college: Towson) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and forward Alba Pena (177-95) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. ASEFA Estudiantes moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with Gernika. Newly promoted Tenerife keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost.
