Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Spaniards who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Marc Gasol (216-85, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in NBA). He led Memphis Grizzlies to a victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves (27-46) 99-86 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Gasol was MVP of the game. He scored 21 points, grabbed 8 boards, handed out 6 passes and blocked 3 shots in 35 minutes on the court. The Memphis Grizzlies have a solid 50-24 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Gasol's fifth year with the team. Gasol has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 14.5ppg, 7.7rpg, 3.9apg, 1.7bpg, 2FGP: 50.3%, 3FGP: 8.3% and FT: 85.6% in the 72 games he played so far. Gasol is currently a member of the Spanish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international guard Ricky Rubio (192-90, currently plays in NBA) faced previously mentioned Marc Gasol in the NBA last game. Rubio, who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Minnesota Timberwolves (27-46) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Rubio's very good performance the Minnesota Timberwolves were defeated 99-86 on the road by the Memphis Grizzlies. He recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 10 rebounds. Rubio also added 9 assists. Rubio has relatively good stats this season: 10.4ppg, 4.0rpg, 7.4apg, 2.3spg, 2FGP: 39.4%, 3FGP: 23.4% and FT: 78.7%. He played for the Spanish national team in 2011.

   #3. The Spanish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Serge Ibaka (208-89, currently plays in NBA). Ibaka contributed to an Oklahoma City Thunder's victory against the Milwaukee Bucks (36-37) 109-99 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. He scored 16 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and made 8 blocks. The Oklahoma City Thunder has a solid 54-20 record this season. This year Ibaka has very high stats. He averages: 13.2ppg, 7.8rpg, 3.1bpg, 2FGP: 58.8%(381-648), 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 74.6%. Ibaka has a dual citizenship: Congolese and Spanish. Ex-C.B. L'Hospitalet player is also a member of the Spanish senior national team.

Pau Gasol

   #4. An experienced power forward Pau Gasol (213-80, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a 3-point Los Angeles Lakers' victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves (27-46) 120-117 in the NBA last Wednesday. He scored 17 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, passed 3 assists and added 2 blocks in 36 minutes. The Los Angeles Lakers have 39-36 record this season. Gasol is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Lakers' roster. Gasol has very impressive stats this season: 13.0ppg, 8.0rpg, 3.6apg and 1.2bpg in the 42 games. He is also Spanish national team player.

   #5. International point guard Jose Manuel Calderon (192-81, currently plays in NBA) was the major contributor in a Detroit Pistons' victory against the Toronto Raptors (27-47) 108-98 in the NBA in Monday night's game. Calderon recorded 19 points and added 9 passes in 43 minutes. The Detroit Pistons have rather weak 25-50 record this season. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. Calderon has very impressive stats this year: 11.9ppg, 2.5rpg and 6.7apg in the 27 games. He plays currently for the Spanish national team.

   #6. Power forward Victor Claver (207-88, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA was not able to help the Portland Trail Blazers (33-41) in their last game on Monday. Despite Claver's good performance the Portland Trail Blazers were defeated 112-102 in Salt Lake City by the Utah Jazz. He recorded 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. It's Claver's first season with the team. Claver's overall stats this year are: 3.2ppg and 2.3rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Spanish National Team roster.

   #7. Former international center Albert Miralles (208-82, also represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help ALBA Berlin in a victory against the closely-ranked Zalgiris (13-10) crushing them 77-55 in the Euroleague last Friday. Miralles recorded 5 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks in 22 minutes. ALBA Berlin (7-16) is placed seventh in group E. His team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Top 16. And that game will be critical. This year Miralles' overall stats are: 5.1ppg and 3.7rpg in the 23 games. He used to play for the Spanish national team eight years ago.

   #8. Point guard Miguel Ortega (188-91, currently plays in Denmark) contributed to Randers' victory against the league leader Svendborg (26-6) 94-82 in the Danish Ligaen in Thursday night's game. He scored 15 points and added 6 passes in 37 minutes. Randers Cimbria Basketball (17-15) is placed fifth in the Ligaen. Ortega is the league's best passer with 6.9apg. He also averaged so far 12.7ppg, 3.7rpg and 2.0spg in the 32 games. Ortega used to play for the Spanish U18 national team back in 2009.


The list of other players, who all have Spanish passport but never been selected to any of Spanish national teams:

   #1. Experienced Luis Scola (206-F/C-80, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA could not help the Phoenix Suns (23-51) in their last game. Despite Scola's very good performance the Phoenix Suns lost 103-117 at home to the Sacramento Kings. He was the top scorer with 25 points. Scola also added 7 rebounds in 31 minutes. It was Suns' sixth consecutive loss in a row. It's Scola's first season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Scola averages: 12.4ppg, 6.2rpg and 2.2apg in the 74 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Spanish.

   #2. Tiago Splitter (211-C/F-85, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA was not able to help the San Antonio Spurs (55-19) in their last game on Monday. Despite Splitter's good performance the San Antonio Spurs were edged 92-90 on the road by the Memphis Grizzlies. He recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 11 rebounds. This season Splitter has relatively solid stats: 10.5ppg, 6.3rpg and 1.5apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Spanish.

   #3. Caio Silveira (211-C-87, also represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Brazil) contributed to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Palmeiras (10-22) crushing them 81-61 in the Brazilian NBB on Thursday night. Silveira scored 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 23 minutes. Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (27-3) is placed first in the NBB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Silveira is currently sixth on the league's list of best rebounders with 7.1rpg. This year his other stats are: 12.8ppg in the 30 games. Silveira has both Spanish and Brazilian nationalities.

   #4. Carlos Cherry (184-PG-79, agency: Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in France) led Quimper UJAP to a victory over the 14th-ranked Vendee Challans (9-17) 103-90 in the French NM1 (third division) in Tuesday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Cherry scored 33 points (!!!) and added 8 assists (was perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line !!!). Quimper UJAP (15-11) is placed seventh in the NM1. It was his team's first victory after six consecutive loses. Cherry belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #2. He has very reliable stats this season: 14.3ppg, 3.5rpg, 6.4apg and 1.2spg.

   #5. Arnette Hallman (199-F-88, currently plays in Portugal) contributed to Academica's victory against the closely-ranked Sampaense (9-9) 68-60 in a derby game in the Portuguese LPB on Saturday night. Hallman recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Associacao Academica de Coimbra (13-5) is placed third in the LPB. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Hallman is ranked first on the list of the best rebounders in the league and also on the list of most steals (fifth place). This season he has very high stats. Hallman averages: 15.4ppg, 11.3rpg, 2.3apg and 2.1spg. He is a naturalized American. Hallman used to play for Estudiantes de Lugo in Spanish league.

   #6. Ignacio Ordin (183-PG-78, currently plays in France) was the main contributor in Pau-Lacq-Orthez's victory against the closely-ranked Chalons-Reims crushing them 75-55 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday. He was the best player in that game. Ordin scored 15 points. His total stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.7apg.

   #7. Jorge Calvo (190-G-87, currently plays in United Kingdom) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Durham Wildcats crushing them 93-70 in the British BBL on Saturday night. Calvo scored 9 points and added 3 passes in 25 minutes. This year his total stats are: 4.6ppg, 2.9rpg, 3.0apg and 1.5spg in the 27 games.

   #8. Omar Quintero (183-PG-81, college: S.Nazarene, currently plays in Mexico), who plays in the Mexican CIBACOPA was not able to secure a victory for Tijuana Zonkeys (0-1) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Quintero's very good performance the bottom-ranked Tijuana Zonkeys was edged 89-87 in Navolato by the higher-ranked Garra Canera de (#4). He was the top scorer with 19 points. Quintero also added 6 assists. It was his first game for Tijuana Zonkeys this season. Quintero is currently sixth on the list of best passers. He also holds two passports: Spanish and Mexican.

   #9. Angel Santana (198-F-77, college: St.Francis, NY, currently plays in Romania), who plays in the Romanian Liga Nationala couldn't help CS Farul Constanta (7-23) in their last game. Despite Santana's very good performance CS Farul Constanta was edged 73-72 on the opponent's court by the much higher-ranked (#7) Timisoara. He was the top scorer with 16 points in a mere 15 minutes. This year Santana's total stats are: 7.0ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.7apg in the 22 games.

   #10. Carlos Fernandez (197-F-87, college: IlIinois Tech, currently plays in United Kingdom) managed to help Worcester Wolves to win against the closely-ranked Plymouth Raiders crushing them 89-69 in the British BBL on Friday night. He scored 5 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Fernandez's total stats this season are: 6.0ppg, 4.7rpg and 2.7apg.

Coviran Granada (LEB Silver) re-signed Marcos Vigo. He played there last season. But in two LEB Silver games he did not score anything and had only 1 rebound. Betis Energia Plus Sevilla (LEB Gold) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old French ex-international forward Nobel Boungou-Colo (202-88, agency: Alti Sport). He has a double citizenship as he also holds Congolese passport. Boungou-Colo played most recently at BC Khimki Moscow Region in Russian VTB league. Club Sanduba Marbellasigned 20-year old forward Juan Pedro Jimenez (199-97). He played last season at UCAM Murcia II in the EBA. In 22 games he had 10.0ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.4apg. Jimenez helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. He has played previously for two other teams: Unicaja B Malaga and Clinicas Rincon.
