American Ndidi Madu (185-PF) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Al-Qazeres and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com LF2 Player of the Week award for round 17. The -year old power forward had a double-double of 22 points and sixteen rebounds, while her team edged out Aros Leon (#4, 9-6) 63-60. Al-Qazeres is placed at 2nd position in Spanish LF2. They are still close to the very top. Al-Qazeres would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 12-3 record. Madu turned to be Al-Qazeres' top player in her first season with the team. University of Florida graduate has very impressive stats this year. Madu is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 9.3rpg).
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 32-year old former international forward Mireia Navarrete (184-F-80) of Duran Maquinaria Ensino Lugo. Navarrete impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 31 points and 11 rebounds. It was enough for Ensino to edge the lower-ranked Real C.Vigo (#8, 6-10) by 5 points 85-80. Ensino's 5th position in Group A has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 9-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Navarrete is a newcomer at Ensino and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 8.4ppg (#6).
The third best performed player last round was Russian Olga Fedorova (189-C-78) of Arxil Pontev. (#11). Fedorova scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds. She was a key player of Arxil Pontev., leading her team to a 52-47 win against the higher-ranked Ourense P. (#7, 6-10). Arxil Pontev. can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group A. They have rather bad season and 1-15 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Fedorova she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Fedorova has a very solid season. In 15 games in Spain she scored 15.1ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Kate Mills (185-F-86) of Ferrol - 23 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Maria Bolonio (180-F/G-85) of Ourense P. - 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Ainara Ramasco (169-PG-89) of Orion-GDKO - 16 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists 7. Monica Garrido (185-C-82) of Real Canoe - 13 points, 17 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Noelia Oliva (175-G-88) of Real C.Vigo - 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists 9. Amina Njonkou (185-F-88) of ADBA - 14 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Maria Ylenia Manzanares (175-G-83) of Cortegada - 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
