   #1. This week's number one is former international guard Ricky Rubio (192-90, currently plays in NBA). He led Minnesota Timberwolves to a victory over the San Antonio Spurs (51-16) crushing them 107-83 in the NBA in Tuesday night's game. Rubio was MVP of the game. He had a triple-double by scoring 21 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and passing 12 assists in 35 minutes on the court. The Minnesota Timberwolves have 23-42 record this season. Rubio has relatively good stats this year: 9.6ppg, 3.8rpg, 7.2apg, 2.2spg, 2FGP: 38.9%, 3FGP: 20.8% and FT: 77.0% in the 40 games he played so far. He played for the Spanish senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Serge Ibaka (208-89, currently plays in NBA). Ibaka contributed to an Oklahoma City Thunder's victory against the Dallas Mavericks (32-35) 107-101 in the NBA last Sunday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 16 rebounds. Ibaka also added 3 blocks. The Oklahoma City Thunder has a solid 50-18 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Ibaka has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 13.4ppg, 7.8rpg, 2.9bpg, 2FGP: 58.9%(355-603), 3FGP: 37.0% and FT: 75.3%. Ibaka has a dual citizenship: Congolese and Spanish. Ex-C.B. L'Hospitalet player is in the roster of the Spanish senior national team.

   #3. The Spanish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Marc Gasol (216-85, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in NBA). He was the main contributor in a Memphis Grizzlies' victory against the Los Angeles Clippers (46-22) 96-85 in the NBA on Wednesday night. Gasol was the best player in that game. He scored 21 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 39 minutes. The Memphis Grizzlies have a solid 45-21 record this season. It's Gasol's fifth year with the team. Gasol has very impressive stats this year: 14.3ppg, 7.7rpg, 3.9apg, 1.7bpg, 2FGP: 49.9%, 3FGP: 8.3% and FT: 85.8% in the 66 games. He is also a member of the Spanish senior national team.

   #4. Point guard Jose Manuel Calderon (192-81, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA could not help the Detroit Pistons (23-46) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the Detroit Pistons were defeated 112-101 on the road by the Portland Trail Blazers. Calderon scored 13 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 5 assists. This season Calderon has very high stats. He averages: 11.4ppg, 2.9rpg, 7.0apg and 1.1spg. Calderon is also Spanish national team player.

Former international center Albert Miralles (208-82, also represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help ALBA Berlin (1-10) in their game against Panathinaikos (7-4) in the Euroleague. He scored only 4 points. The seventh-placed ALBA Berlin was crushed 82-58 in Athens by the higher-ranked Panathinaikos (#4) in the group E of Euroleague. It was ALBA Berlin's sixth consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Euroleague Top 16. So now every game will be critical. Miralles' overall stats this season are: 5.3ppg and 3.7rpg. He used to play for the Spanish national team eight years ago.

Point guard Miguel Ortega (188-91, currently plays in Denmark) managed to help Randers Cimbria Basketball in a victory against the closely-ranked SISU (17-10) 80-70 in the Danish Ligaen last Thursday. He scored only 4 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 30 minutes. Randers Cimbria Basketball (13-14) is placed fifth in the Ligaen. Ortega is ranked first on the list of the best passers in the league with 7.2apg. This year he also averages: 12.6ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.9spg in the 29 games. Ortega is a former U18 international player as he played for the Spanish team four years ago.

   #7. Former U20 international guard Francisco Robles (195-81, currently plays in United Kingdom) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Hemel Storm (10-11) crushing them 73-48 in the British EBL D1 (second division) on Saturday night. He scored only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 23 minutes. Bristol Acadamy Flyers (13-8) is placed fifth in the EBL D1. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. It's Robles' first season with the team. This year Robles has relatively solid stats: 10.7ppg, 3.1rpg, 3.5apg and 1.1spg in the 15 games. He used to play for the Spanish U20 national team thirteen years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Spanish passport but never been selected to any of Spanish national teams:

   #1. Experienced Luis Scola (206-F/C-80, currently plays in NBA) was the major contributor in a Phoenix Suns' victory against the Los Angeles Lakers (36-33) crushing them 99-76 in the NBA in Monday night's game. Scola scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. The Phoenix Suns have rather weak 23-45 record this season. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. It's Scola's first year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Scola averages: 12.2ppg, 6.3rpg and 2.3apg. He has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Spanish.

   #2. Caio Silveira (211-C-87, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Liga Americas), who plays in Brazil could not help Flamengo (0-3) in their last game. Despite Silveira's very good performance the fourth-placed Flamengo was edged 95-93 on the road by the higher-ranked (#3) Mavort in the group D of Liga Americas. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 14 rebounds in 34 minutes. So far Flamengo lost all three games in the Second Stage. The Second Stage already ended in the Liga Americas. Silveira belongs to league's top scorers (ranked #7) and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has very reliable stats this year: 13.4ppg and 8.8rpg in the five games he played so far. Silveira is another player who holds two passports: Spanish and Brazilian.

   #3. Tiago Splitter (211-C/F-85, also represented by Interperformances, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a 1-point San Antonio Spurs' victory against the Dallas Mavericks (32-35) 92-91 in the NBA in Thursday night's game. He recorded 8 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists in 32 minutes. The San Antonio Spurs have a very solid 51-16 record this season. This year Splitter has relatively solid stats: 10.5ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.5apg in the 67 games. He has both Brazilian and Spanish nationalities.

   #4. Gustavo Barrera (194-G-85, currently plays in Uruguay), who plays in the Uruguayan LUB was not able to help Hebraica (2-5) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Barrera's very good performance the eighth-placed Hebraica was defeated 66-56 in a derby game by the higher-ranked Malvin (#4) in the Serie 1. He was the top scorer with 20 points. Barrera also added 9 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Barrera is the league's best passer and also on the list of most steals (fourth place). He has very reliable stats this season: 14.0ppg, 4.3rpg, 7.8apg and 2.0spg. Barrera also holds two passports: Spanish and Uruguayan.

   #5. Jorge Calvo (190-G-87, currently plays in United Kingdom) contributed to a Leicester Riders' victory against the closely-ranked Plymouth Raiders (17-9) 78-66 in the British BBL on Sunday night. He recorded 10 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists in 28 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Jelson Homes DMU Leicester City Riders (23-2) is placed first in the BBL. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. It's Calvo's first season with the team. This year Calvo's overall stats are: 4.3ppg, 2.9rpg, 3.0apg and 1.6spg in the 24 games.

   #6. Ariel Eslava (201-F/C-79, currently plays in Argentina) was not able to secure a victory for Olimpico de La Banda in their game against GECR Indalo in the Argentinian LigaA. Eslava scored 6 points in only 9 minutes. His team lost 76-84. This year Eslava's overall stats are: 4.6ppg and 3.7rpg in the 39 games. He holds both Spanish and Argentinian passports.

   #7. Lluis Jacas (198-F-90, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) couldn't help Eskilstuna (9-12) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Jacas' very good performance Eskilstuna (#9) was crushed 86-64 in Talje by the higher-ranked Knights (#7) in the South group. He was the top scorer with 22 points. Jacas also added 7 rebounds. This season Jacas has very high stats. He averages: 18.4ppg, 7.3rpg, 2.6apg and 2.0spg.

   #8. Rafael Lopez (204-C-86, currently plays in France) helped Denain Voltaire win their game against the fourth-ranked Le Portel crushing them 84-63 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. Lopez scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. This year Lopez's overall stats are: 7.8ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.4apg in the 26 games.

   #9. Juan Ignacio Sanchez (192-G-77, college: Temple, currently plays in Argentina) couldn't help Wuber-Est.Bahia in their game against Argentino in the Argentinian LigaA. He cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. Sanchez scored only 3 points. His team was defeated 82-73. Sanchez's overall stats this season are: 6.2ppg, 2.8rpg and 2.4apg. He holds both Spanish and Argentinian passports.

   #10. Joseph Roundy couldn't help one of league's weakest teams AEK in their game against Etha in the Cypriot Division A. Roundy scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 8 minutes on the court. His team lost 67-74. This year Roundy's overall stats are: 4.1ppg and 2.7rpg in the seven games.

EBA newcomer Basquet Girona added to their roster 19-year old Bosnian forward Dino Kobic (200-98). He played last season at the junior team of Zlatorog in Slovenian Liga Nova KBM. In only one game he recorded 5 points, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block. Kobic's team made it to the Alpe Adria Final Four. He represented Bosnia at the European Championships U18 in Samsun (Turkey) last year. His stats at that event were 4 games: 0pts. Kobic has played also professionally in Bosnia (Kengur). LEB Gold newcomer Sammic Iraurgi Saski Baloia landed 25-year old Bosnian small forward Mirza Bulic (207-92) from Levitec Huesca. In 22 LEB Gold games in Spain he averaged 10.6ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.2apg last season. The previous (15-16) season Bulic played at Araberri (LEB Silver) where in 36 games he had 11.1ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.3apg and 1.2spg. He helped them to win the LEB Silver Play-Off title. LEB Silver newcomer Fundacion 5+11 landed 19-year old Serbian point guard Bojan Nesic (189-98). The last time (16) he played at BC Mega Bemax Sremska Mitrovica U19 team in Serbian JLS league. Nesic represented Serbia at the European Championships U16 in Latvia three years ago. His stats at that event were 9 games: 6.3ppg, 3.6rpg, 3.2apg, 1.6spg, FGP: 48.7%, 3PT-1(60.0%), FT: 62.5%.
