Spain did it again! They claimed the third consecutive U20 European Championship crown. Spain defeated Italy to defend their European title. Yurena Diaz (178-G-93, agency: Regeneracom Sports) nailed 16 points to lead Spain in scoring. Spain finished the tournament undefeated.
It was all about the Azzurri at the start of the game. Italy opened the clash with eight points in a row to surge ahead. Italy led throughout the first period posting an 18:11 lead after ten minutes. Italy kept Spain at distance throughout the second frame. They recorded a 28:25 halftime lead. However Spain opened the second half on a 12:0 run to spur ahead. They silenced Italy in the third period to ensure a 45:31 advantage before the fourth stanza. The gap grew at 19-point mark midway through the final quarter. Italy cut the deficit back to single digits late in regulation but Spain never looked back coasting to the historic triumph. Paula Estebas (175-F-93) provided 10 points and 8 rebounds, while Itziar Llobet (180-G/F-93, agency: Regeneracom Sports, college: Kent St.) had 10 points in the victory. Astou Ndour (196-C-94) finished with 7 points and 17 rebounds for Spain. Francesca Dotto (170-PG-93) chipped in 14 points for Italy. Caterina Dotto (167-PG-93) and Elisa Penna (186-SG-95) produced 10 points each in the loss.

Juana Molina-Prados agreed terms with Gernika - 9 hours ago
Gernika Bizkaia (LFB) inked 26-year old point guard Juana Molina-Prados (172-91) from Campus Promete. In 24 LFB games she recorded 5.7ppg, 2.8rpg and 1.7apg last season. Among other achievements Molina-Prados' team won Spanish LF2 Group A Regular Season in 2015. She received also Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LF2 1st Team award in 2015. Umo Diallo signs at Araski - 16 hours ago
ADB Araski Arabako Emakumeen Saskibaloia (LFB) landed 19-year old center Umo Diallo (192-98) from Campus Promete. But in 9 LFB games she averaged just 1.9ppg and 1.1rpg last season. Part of previous (2015-16) season Diallo spent at Sant Adria (LF2) where in 10 games she had 5.3ppg and 2.7rpg. She helped them to make it to the final. Campus Promete Logrono (LFB) re-signed 31-year old American power forward Leslie Knight (184-86). She has played there for the last three seasons. In 26 LFB games she averaged 12.7ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.4apg last season. Among other achievements Knight's team made it to the Swiss LNA Semifinals in 2009.
