Former international forward Elisabeth Egnell (185-F-87) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Norrkoping, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2 (Second Stage). The 25-year old player was the main contributor (20 points, seven rebounds and two assists) to her team's victory, helping them to outclass, Second Stage botton-ranked team Telge (#4, 0-5) with 31-point margin 71-40. Norrkoping is placed at 2nd position in Swedish Damligan. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this stage. Norrkoping will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. Egnell turned to be Norrkoping's top player in her first season with the team. Former Boston College star has very solid stats this year. Egnell is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.0ppg) and averages impressive 2.7spg and 56.2% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 27-year old American Brittany Smart (175-G-85) of Kvarnby. Smart had a very good evening with a double-double of 31 points and 12 rebounds. Of course Kvarnby cruised to a 81-69 relatively comfortable win over Visby (1-4). The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Smart is one of the most experienced players at Kvarnby and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.7ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 9.5rpg and 3.4apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Earnesia Williams (185-F-87) of Visby (#0). Williams showcased her all-around game by recording 25 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the last round. Despite Williams' great performance Visby lost 69-81 to #-2 ranked Kvarnby. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Visby can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group 2. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Williams she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Williams has individually a great season in Sweden. After 14 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.6ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 10.1rpg (#1 in league). She also has 2.1spg and FGP: 51.1%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Amber Petillon (193-F/C-82) of Mark Basket - 22 points and 12 rebounds 5. Pamela Rosanio (178-G/F-86) of Udominate - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 6. Eureka Brooks (170-PG-86) of Solna Vikings - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists 7. Jessica Nilsson (184-F-89) of Udominate - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Hanna Johansson (187-F-89) of Norrkoping - 15 points and 8 rebounds 9. Eva Pavlovska (176-G/F-89) of Udominate - 16 points and 8 rebounds 10. Jeannie Saunders (173-G-86) of Udominate - 10 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
