Coach Mikael Blomqvist is born in basketball city Lulea . He coached a development team Lulea Basket (Lule Stars DIV1 Women). 2008 he got the chance to coach in the top league in Sweden Eskilstuna Basket. Then he moved to Visby from 2009-2012 where he spent three wonderful years. In the summer of 2012, he accepted an offer from UDOMiNATE Basketball to coach up in Umea to be closer to his daughter. They had started a new compound (old Umea Comets.) UDOMiNATE Basketball had high goals. Umea had not played in the playoffs for26yrs. and aims to play internationally in the near future.

1.Udominte made to the semifinals. The season is over now. What are your thoughts after this season?

Micke: Im really satisfied with this season. Umea Comets (old name) havent played in play offs in 26 years. We (UDOMiNATE Basket) put a goal to at least to be top 6 in the league. We were placed 5th spot and played against Telge (The Champions2012) in quterfinal. We won that and we played against Norrkping in the semifinals. We lost whit 3-0

2.Last season you were coach for Visby Ladies. Do you miss Visby/Gotland?

I had three wonderful years on Gotland, both on the court and off, I miss all the good friends I got there, and of course the weather

3.Sweden has potential to presents a lot of young good basketball players in last several years. Who could be the next star in Sweden?

I think Megan Magarity from Telge can be our next big star. She have all the tools to be really good.

4.Whats your plans for future?

A great goal I have is to get the chance to coach abroad
Then I want to coach a youth national team in Sweden

5.For how long do you have contract? Any other options at this moment?

Right now I discuss whit UDOMiNATE Basket. I think we will agree on a new contract but I do not know if there will be a one-year contract or more.

6.Eurobasket 2013 in France, your favorites?

7.Prognosis, who will play for medals?
Russia,France and Spain

8.Will you find some free time to watch games live?

Yes, we go down the entire family with friends for a few days and follow Sweden

Thank you Coach Mikael Blomqvist for your time to share your thoughts about this season. Eurobasket and Tamara Ruzic wish you all the best in your coaching career. We wish UDOMINATE to reach their goals in next season.
