American Keith Wright (203-F-89) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Uppsala and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 30. The 23-year old forward had a double-double of 17 points and twenty rebounds, while his team beat Eagles (#11, 5-25) 89-77. Uppsala is placed at 2nd position in Swedish Basketligan. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Uppsala will need more victories to improve their 22-8 record. Wright turned to be Uppsala's top player in his first season with the team. Harvard University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Wright is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 8.9rpg) and averages solid 1.5bpg and 61.3% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old American forward Isiah Brown (203-F-89) of 08. Brown impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he lead 08 to another comfortable win 93-75 over the lower-ranked Eco Orebro (#12, 5-25) being unquestionably team leader. 08's 7th position in has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 14-16 record. Brown is a newcomer at 08 and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was American Michael Cuffee (195-G-83) of top-ranked Sundsvall. Cuffee got into 30-points club by scoring 36 points in the last round. Despite Cuffee's great performance Sundsvall lost 94-100 to #3 ranked Sodertalje. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Sundsvall had another "accident". It may be a crucial gamestill good, but 5th lost game is hopefully really an accident. Cuffee's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Cuffee has a great season in Sweden. After 29 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.8ppg (7th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Stavros Toutziarakis (210-C-87) of Solna - 24 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Terell Castle (182-PG-72) of Eco Orebro - 32 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Justin Sedlak (205-F/C-87) of Solna - 13 points and 11 rebounds 7. John Roberson (180-PG-88) of Sodertalje - 28 points and 4 assists 8. Urule Igbavboa (203-C-87) of LF Basket - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Christian Maraker (206-PF-82) of Norrkoping - 19 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists 10. William Walker (200-F-87) of Nassjo - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
