The Geneve Lions are the new LNA champions. They prevailed against the Lugano Tigers in the fifth decisive game of the championship series tonight. Andrej Stimac (204-F/C-79) nailed 21 points to lead the hosts to the trophy.
The Lions pulled in front early in the encounter and marched a 21:17 lead after the opening frame. The Lions maintained the lead throughout the second period. They ensured a 44:34 halftime lead. But the Tigers bounced back strong in the third period. The visitors ignited a 17:5 rally to eke out a 51:49 lead with ten minutes remaining. The Lions pulled together in the fourth frame and responded in fashion. The hosts poured in 25 points in the final stanza and raced to the historic win at the end. Juwann James (198-F/C-87, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management, college: JMU) posted 17 points, while Kelvin Parker (184-PG-82, college: NW Missouri St.) added 13 points for the hosts. Derek Stockalper (196-SG-84, college: Cal Poly - SLO) responded with 18 points for Lugano. Branko Milisavljevic (193-G-76, agency: Beo Basket) contributed 12 points in the loss.
