Geneve de Lions - Benetton Fribourg 90:87 (OT)

Geneve de Lions celebrated the League Cup title. They prevailed against Benetton Fribourg in the exciting Final tonight. The teams had to go into overtime to decide on the winner.
Geneve de Lions led by a single point after ten minutes of action 14:13. The tempo grew in the second frame. Geneve accounted for a 40:36 halftime lead. They maintained the lead throughout the third quarter. The Lions built a 63:58 advantage at the final intermission. But Fribourg refused to surrender. They erased the deficit in the fourth frame and tied things up 80 at the end of regulation. Benetton Fribourg went on a 10:7 run in the extra period and sealed the winning outcome at the end. Kelvin Parker (183-G-82, college: NW Missouri St.) notched 20 points, while Andrej Stimac (204-F/C-79) added 18 points for the winners. Darrius Garrett (205-F/C-90, college: Richmond) answered with 22 points for Benetton Fribourg. Edwin Draughan (196-G/F-82, college: Yale) chipped in 21 points in the loss.

Lugano Tigers (LNA) agreed terms with 26-year old American forward James Padgett (203-102kg-91, college: Maryland). He played this summer at Lakeside Lightning in Australian SBL. In 25 games he had very impressive stats: 23.3ppg, 12.7rpg, 1.6apg, 1.4spg and 1.2bpg.

Penarol Mar del Plata (LigaA) added to their roster 25-year old American guard Karl Cochran (185-79kg-92, college: Wofford). He played last season at BBC Lausanne in Swiss LNA league. In 27 games he was second best scorer with impressive 21.3ppg and had 4.2rpg, 4.6apg (top 5) and 2.7spg (leader !!!).
