Neuchatel recorded the opening win in the quarterfinal series versus Monthey. Monthey was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 24-16 charge of Neuchatel, which allowed them to win the game. 28 personal fouls committed by Monthey helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Quinton Day (185-84, college: UMKC, agency: Three Eye Sports) fired 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Ray Reese (196-87, college: Tulsa) chipped in 17 points. Five Neuchatel players scored in double figures. Bosnian forward Adnan Hodzic (203-88, college: Lipscomb) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian point guard Hernst Laroche (185, college: N.Mexico St.) added 16 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side.

Lugano Tigers - Boncourt 90-75

Lugano cruised past Boncourt at the start of the series. The game was mostly controlled by Lugano Tigers. Boncourt was better in second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Richie Gordon (203-89, college: W.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Dusan Mladjan (198-86, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 20 points and 4 steals for the winners. Fribourg posted the first win against Starwings. Starwings were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. It was a very good performance for American-Jamaican forward Ronald Yates (201-83, college: St.Peter's) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American swingman Edwin Draughan (196-82, college: Yale) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Fribourg players scored in double figures. Geneve fired past BBC Nyon in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Geneve Lions. BBC Nyon was better in fourth quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for American point guard Kelvin Parker (183-82, college: NW Missouri St.) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 assists. His fellow American import guard Tony Brown (193-79, college: Arkansas St.) contributed with 19 points for the winners. American forward Justin Rutty (200-89, college: Quinnipiac) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Canadian forward Jean-Richard Volcy (203-82, college: N.Michigan) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for BBC Nyon. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

BBC Monthey (LNA) signed 33-year old Nigerian ex-international guard Michael Efevberha (193-89kg-84, college: CS Northridge). He just played at Sagesse in Lebanese Pepsi LBL. In 15 games he had very impressive stats: 23.5ppg, 7.1rpg, 4.9apg and 1.5spg this season. Efevberha also played earlier that season for LG Sakers in South Korean KBL where in 14 Pepsi LBL games he recorded 14.9ppg, 3.6rpg and 2.1apg.
