Geneve Lions - Neuchatel 78-77

Geneve Lions escaped with a narrow home win over Neuchatel to take 1-0 lead in the semifinal series. The hosts trailed by 18 points after three quarters before their 30-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Geneve Lions made 30-of-36 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Geneve Lions outrebounded Neuchatel 29-13 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Neuchatel helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Juwann James (198-87, college: JMU, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) fired 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Tony Brown (193-79, college: Arkansas St.) chipped in 14 points. Four Geneve Lions players scored in double figures. Geneve Lions' coach Ivan Rudez used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Quinton Day (185-84, college: UMKC, agency: Three Eye Sports) produced 18 points and naturalized Senegalese forward Jules Aw (200-86) added 19 points respectively for lost side.

Fribourg - Lugano Tigers 76-82

Lugano Tigers overcame Fribourg on the road to surge ahead in the semifinal series. It looked good early as Fribourg took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lugano Tigers had a 22-15 second period charge getting the lead and Fribourg was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-82. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian guard Branko Milisavljevic (193-76, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 assists. American power forward Matt Schneiderman (204-81, college: N.Iowa) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Edwin Draughan (196-82, college: Yale) answered with 26 points and American-Jamaican forward Ronald Yates (201-83, college: St.Peter's) added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Fribourg. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Union Neuchatel Basket (LNA) signed 25-year old Dominican guard Bryan Colon (181-92). It is actually his comeback to Neuchatel as he has played here before. Colon played this summer at Indios de San Francisco in LNB league in Dominican Republic. But in only one game he did not score anything. The last season Colon played at Union Neuchatel Basket where in 29 LNA games he had 4.9ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.0apg. He helped them to make it to the Supercup final. Lions de Geneve announced the new head coach. Vedran Bosnic , after eight season as head coach of Sodertalje Kings, moves to Switzerland. He signs with Ginevra Lions. The bosnian specalist, also head coach of NT Swedish team, is Swedish Basketligan Champion -13, 14, 15, 16 and he was named All-Swedish Basketligan Coach of the Year -11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
