Starwings - Fribourg 77-81

Fribourg advanced into the next stage after they handed the third straight defeat to Starwings. Starwings trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 28-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 77-81 at the end of the game. It was a great evening for American forward Arizona Reid (196-86, college: High Point) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 4 steals (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). His fellow American import swingman Edwin Draughan (196-82, college: Yale) helped adding 19 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Bahamas forward Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college: IPFW) with 22 points and 9 rebounds and American power forward Justin Dobbins (203-87, college: E.Michigan, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Starwings players scored in double figures.

Boncourt - Lugano Tigers 92-85

Noncourt rallied past Lugano for the opening win in the series. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lugano Tigers won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Boncourt made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Boncourt especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Lugano Tigers' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Boncourt made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American swingman Shy Ely (194-87, college: Evansville, agency: Merit Sports) who scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Daniel Ferguson (191-85, college: Valdosta St., agency: Interperformances) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Matt Schneiderman (204-81, college: N.Iowa) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and international Derek Stockalper (196-84, college: Cal Poly - SLO) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Boncourt and four Lugano Tigers players scored in double figures. Lugano Tigers' coach Randoald Dessarzin rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.

Monthey - Neuchatel 75-60

Monthey held off Neuchatel and cut the deficit in the series. The game was mostly controlled by Monthey. Neuchatel was better in second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a quality performance for international Jonathan Dubas (202-91) who led the winners and scored 8 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian point guard Hernst Laroche (185, college: N.Mexico St.) accounted for 14 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Monthey's coach Petar Aleksic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Naturalized Senegalese forward Jules Aw (200-86) came up with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American power forward Thomas Coleman (205-88, college: N.Carolina A&T) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Neuchatel in the defeat.

BBC Nyon - Geneve Lions 70-77

Geneve Lions will play in the semis after they registered the third consecutive victory over BBC Nyon. The game without a history. Geneve Lions led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Geneve Lions players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Kelvin Parker (183-82, college: NW Missouri St.) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 8 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Croatian power forward Andrej Stimac (204-79) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Canadian forward Jean-Richard Volcy (203-82, college: N.Michigan) answered with 20 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Justin Rutty (200-89, college: Quinnipiac) added 21 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for BBC Nyon. Four BBC Nyon players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Union Neuchatel Basket (LNA) signed 25-year old Dominican guard Bryan Colon (181-92). It is actually his comeback to Neuchatel as he has played here before. Colon played this summer at Indios de San Francisco in LNB league in Dominican Republic. But in only one game he did not score anything. The last season Colon played at Union Neuchatel Basket where in 29 LNA games he had 4.9ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.0apg. He helped them to make it to the Supercup final. Lions de Geneve announced the new head coach. Vedran Bosnic , after eight season as head coach of Sodertalje Kings, moves to Switzerland. He signs with Ginevra Lions. The bosnian specalist, also head coach of NT Swedish team, is Swedish Basketligan Champion -13, 14, 15, 16 and he was named All-Swedish Basketligan Coach of the Year -11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
