Boncourt - Lugano Tigers 52-85

Lugano Tigers earned a comfortable road win over Boncourt to advance into the semifinal stage. The game without a history. Lugano Tigers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Boncourt's 36. They outrebounded Boncourt 42-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. American power forward Matt Schneiderman (204-81, college: N.Iowa) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Richie Gordon (203-89, college: W.Carolina) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Five Lugano Tigers players scored in double figures. American swingman Shy Ely (194-87, college: Evansville, agency: Merit Sports) produced 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Alexis Herrmann (178-92) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Boncourt's coach Antoine Petitjean gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win.

Neuchatel stunned Monthey to book semifinal ticket. The game without a history. Neuchatel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Monthey's 28. It was a great shooting night for Neuchatel especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. American guard Ray Reese (196-87, college: Tulsa) fired 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Quinton Day (185-84, college: UMKC, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Neuchatel players scored in double figures. Bosnian forward Bozo Djurasovic (200-87) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds and international Jonathan Dubas (202-91) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Monthey's coach Petar Aleksic already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win.

5 STELLE SAM Basket Massagno Lugano (SBL) landed 26-year old Kenyan forward Tylor Ongwae (199-93kg-91, college: La-Monroe). He played in the summer at Taranaki Mountainairs in New Zealand NBL league. Ongwae managed to play in four leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 18 NBL games he averaged impressive 18.0ppg, 5.7rpg, 2.4apg and 1.8spg (in top 3). 23-year old forward Alex Welsh (200-F-94) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Winterthur and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 3.
