Kotarac
Milan Kotarac (agency: Stanislav Ryzhov ) is new Head of Youth System in Trabzonspor Basketbol

First of all, we know that you are able to speak Turkish. How and Why did you learn Tukish?

It is not first time that i am working in Turkey. I was asistant in Fenerbahce in the season 1999/2000. I was young coach at that time and had a chance to learn basketball but also Turkish language. That experience helps me a lot in communication and work with young players in Trabzonspor now.

This is very unique sitation for Turkish basketball having a foreign coach in youth system. How did you come here?
Club had decided to start new program. I was very happy since it is a big and new challenge for me to try to serve a player for Mens team in couple of years. I wil try to make it doing my best.

Vice president said that you are going to recruit foreign young talent as well?
At first, we are focused on local players . Trabzon is big city and there are small cities around. We will try to cover this region and then we will move to another regions. First step is to create serious system of scouting, we have a time to do it.

Will there be other foreign coaches with you?
No, just me. There are also good Turkish coaches Can, Necati and Mustafa. Maybe we will add one more young coach.

When can we see first time your player in first team?
It is too early to say something since we will not build just U-18 team, we will organize all young teams. We will try to do it as soon as possible but this program is not just for few months; we will have a long way to go. In two years, we will try to produce at least 2 players for Mens team.

Turkish basketball won two titles in two years in European championships. What do you want to say about that? Is it scare you that we are already successful in youth program?
I watched last championships and it is easy to see that you have a lot of talented players. I see that serious program already exists here. I really respect their attention and basketball schools. Of course this is a pleasure for me to work in this kind of atmosphere. We already recognized talented players in short time but I do not want to mention about names.

Main problem is not finding talented players in Turkish basketball. We are not able to succeed in transition between youth teams and Mens team. What is your system to cope with this?
We have to build relations between youth program and Mens team and we will make it soon. We will recruit only those players who objectively could be developed in the future. Main direction must be Mens team. We are one club and cannot work separately.

I do not remember when we saw last time Trabzonspor Youth Team in National Championship. Will be important for you to win something in local championships?
We will try to reach Final Tournaments. It is too early to concern about results. On the other side, we have to keep in our mind that we are starting from zero and in time being, everybody will see Trabzonspor Youth System as a power in Turkish basketball.

Tony Crocker
Crocker number one in Turkey for round 27 - 5 days ago
American Forward Tony Crocker (200-F-87) put on an amazing game in the last round for TOFAS, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 27. The 29-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, four rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Usak (#14, 8-19) 82-69. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Tofas maintains the 9th position in Turkish BSL. Tofas is a typical sol...   [read more]
