Turker: What was the aim on the court behind your singing with Willie Solomon (187-G-78, college: Clemson) ?
Mete Babaoglu : After the exhibition games, we thought that we need a combo-guard who can score points. At this point we signed Willie Willie Solomon, who has experience in Turkey. This is my 25th season at the Turkish Basketbal League and I worked with so many different players. I made this decision on the basis of my experiences. I thought that I can work with Willie Solomon too. Actually we wanted Willie Solomon in the summer to but we could not agree due to some financial problems.
We talked with Willie Solomon. He said I want ball in my hands. I want to create, or pass the ball to my teammate in an interview. This is not todays basketball. Teams are playing with 2 point-guards and P&R plays are one of the key factor of the todays basketball.

Turker: So you told him that he will play with Holston, right?
Mete Babaoglu : Yes of course. Especially we said him he will play with Hakan Koseoglu. He didnt said No to any of those requests. He played nearly 30 minutes in his first games. That will show you easily my confidence on Willie Solomon. He has to said first that he will not accept that requests. But he said Yes to every requests.

Turker: He had an injury on 22.02.2012 in Ukraine before his arrival to Mersin. Is he fully recovered from the injury when he came to Mersin?
Mete Babaoglu : He passed all the controls. He had an injury at Ukraine but first controls revealed that he fully recovered. But after the controls, theres another injury seemed from the doctors. We felt there was something wrong in our first match playing with Gaziantep due to the fact that we had all the surveys with our clubs doctor EMG. In addition to this, the bone injury that he experienced in Ukraine on his left foot thigh bone also his nerves lost in time, appeared to have fallen to zero. Foot end of this muscle to lift up and pull through the knee. Thats what we call drop foot in physic. It does not affect his run but this fact prevents to pull his foot and prevents to jump because his foot is on the floor. Sometimes he forgets that, at that point we had to start the treatment. His attitudes made us to think about his injury positively but the problem prevent him to be better.

Turker: Is it possible for him not to know the problem about his foot because you noticed that later on ?
Mete Babaoglu : Impossible. It is almost known, not a secret. You understand the problem when you try to walk with your foot end hanging down. I made him play as a point guard in the second period of the Gaziantep match and the team never runs back. Score difference has jumped immediately to 15.

Turker: Willie Solomon said that signing with Mersin is worst decision of his career. What can you say about that?
Mete Babaoglu : In my 25-year career, I didnt say bad things on any of my players in front of media. Everytime I said good things but never bad. You know sometimes player will not fit the system and you will part ways with this player. That things can happen in basketball world. Same thing happening to us. Sometimes were parting ways with our club in mid-season. Because sometimes you cant fit the system. Or you cant get the success. But you cant say Coming Mersin is time-wasting. His behaviours are unacceptable. We talked with Willie Solomon privately about 3 or 4 times. I asked his requests and I told him my requests. But he said I want the ball everytime. If Willie Solomon were fully-healthy, of course we will give the ball to his hands. He was at treatments everyday. Theres two type Willie Solomon. Our Willie Solomon was not healthy. I talked with him and I told him that I will not work with him.

Turker: Did you face with any problem about his personal life?
Mete Babaoglu :We talked about that when he came and he knew his foots situation and he wanted to comeback to Euroleague-level. Actually were happy about his private-life. He acted like a professional.

Turker: In interview, it was claimed that Besiktas was also interested with him ?
Mete Babaoglu :This is not true. I asked to Erman Kunter about their interest on Willie Solomon. Absouletly we have no interest in Willie Solomon Kunter said to me. We always share our opinion.

Turker: As a result, he came and behaved professionally and left on the other side ?
Mete Babaoglu : We parted ways mutually. We tried to parted ways with Willie Solomon 2 times but conditions are not good. We made everything. He has no debt from Mersin. Anyone who needs any info about his injury, we will share it.
